    Alfine and KM

I have a pugs with a alfine hub and love it. I have a KM set up as a ss but my knees ain't digging it. Any problems or concerns installing that hub on the KM?

I occasionally consider the potential awesomeness of an IGH, and I think the KM is the perfect vessel to carry one. Alfine seems like a tremendous option. Have fun with it!

You shouldn't have any problems. The Alfine can be run with basically full length housing and zipties, which reduces the likelihood of any problems. I'm not sure exactly what the housing stops are like on the KM, but it should be fine. If you really like the Alfine, you could dremel or hacksaw the end of the cable stops off, so they just become full-length cable housing holders.

You will need to make sure you have the correct non-turn washers for the KM's horizontal dropouts. The non-turn washers dictate the angle of the axle, which needs to be matched to the type of dropout. I've only dealt with the Alfine on completes, so I don't know if it normally includes the different variations of washers. Something to check, for sure.

I think you need the "6 R/L" washers. You can read more about it, and order the washers here:

Good luck, and post lots of photos!

Thanks. I was just trying to figure out the shifter cable setup. Full housing is preferred - like on the Pugs, so I'm leaning that way. I'm also ditching the stock front fork for a Rockshox Recon Gold. And swapping the Stan's Ravens for some Specialized UST tires - those Ravens are too thin to trust. Pics forthcoming when done - next wkend possibly.
