2012 Karate Monkey rear rack suggestions

    Hey all -

I know rear racks for KM's have been discussed here a number of times.

However, I'm looking for recommendations for the new Karate Monkeys with rack bosses on the seatstays, above the disc mount. Unfortunately I can't post a link or picture yet...

    Ideally, I'd like something that...
    A) takes panniers
    B) mounts fairly close to the tire (to lower the height of the panniers)
    C) offsets the panniers further back (to improve heel clearance)
    D) is fairly cheap

Am I dreaming? My initial thought is that a standard 26" MTB rack should work, but I don't have any to try. I also thought about something like the Racktime TopIt, which is meant for the front, but might have enough clearance to mount on the rear of the KM.

Please note that I want to use the bosses/eyelets provided on the frame. I'm not interested in seatpost-mounted racks or the Freeload stuff.

    Any suggestions or pictures? Thanks!

tubus logo classic is one good option.

    Updating with some research.

The Axiom Journey Adjustable (model 2429) could be a winner:

Adjustable height struts should allow the deck to get close to the tire. Looks like the panniers would be positioned back far enough, and that the front struts could mount to the upper rack bosses on the seatstays. Plus, it's cheap!

I also have an OMM Cold Springs front rack that may work as a rear. Will post pictures when I get around to test mounting it.

Have KM with same bosses, and my vote would be 26"-specific rack. The tried & true Blackburn mtn one is cheap and will likely leave you room for full fender w/o being overly tall or heavy.

Well, that Tubus will sit relatively high cause of where the KM bosses are located, and because it's a 29er rack.

Thank you for the reply islander. I will go for 26"-specific rack then. Logo or Cargo?

Why are you not keen on the Freeload rack?

    I don't believe there's a 26" -specific Logo, but there is a 26" Cargo model.
