DOUGLAS COUNTY, Colo. -- Waterton Canyon's popular trail in Douglas County will be closed to the public on Friday.
That's because Forest Service vehicles need access to the Mill Gulch Fire.
The small 3-acre fire is burning on U.S. Forest Service land in Douglas County.
The fire started about 4 p.m. on Thursday. It's burning approximately 4.5 miles from the bottom of the canyon on a ridge.
Officials believe the fire was sparked by lightning.
The canyon is expected to reopen this weekend.
