i have planted the seed with my wife, too. its going to take years of pestering, but i know eventually she will break down. we just bought the house and i plan on getting 10 years out of it at least so i think i have a good shot. i opt for the slow burn strategy
by the way do you live in greenville sc, haha? i gotta find some closer pumptracks...i am pumptrack crazy at the moment
Yeah it isn't gonna be huge, but itll be plenty big for what I'm doing..... Gonna be 12x 65.... Big oval shape. One berm will be above ground, the other under ground, several large tables, and several carefully placed different sized rollers. Already got a decent start on it. Doing it manually most of the way.
My backyard pump track is close to your dimensions @ 12'x85'. I first had mine as an oval, but since then filled in the middle with rollers and small tables so that I can criss cross any where I want to change direction, makes it more fun than just riding in circles. Good luck on your building.

Best use of back yard space ever devised. I've spent more time, and gotten more enjoyment, out of our back yard during the last 6 months than the previous 18 1/2 years combined.
My wife loves it because: 1) If I'm in the back yard I'm not in the house, and if I'm not in the house I'm in the back yard, 2) It's another opportunity to spend quality time with my 14 year old son, 3) I've lost 30 pounds, 4) My mood is better, and I'm easier to get along with (except when it rains and I can't ride or build).
Enjoy the build. A pump track is never "complete", and throwing dirt gets in your blood. You'll become almost as proud of your callouses as you are of your riding scars.
Thanks, but after the recent rains ours isn't so rideable either. Lots of repairs to do.
There are worst ways to spend the day, but repairs do get a little frustrating. I didn't plan well enough to keep water from standing and now I'm paying for it.
Yeah irrigation is gonna be a huge problem for me seeing that half my track lies underground level. I'm thinking a out digging a trench off to one side that is lower than my lowest point and installing PVC drain pipes to said trench. Lots of work but could prove quite effective.....
Yes she is! So tell me guys, I'm down to 2 large areas that need to be dug out, and am in need of help. What would be the proper way to ask for assistance? I mean I dont really know anyone other than my brother and I who ride, but need the extra man power. Suggestions?
I'm currently building one in my backyard as well. All the berms are pretty much done and the first line of rollers is in,
Got to say it has spoiled me and will make building in the woods seem more a pain. I mean, having a hose right there with water anytime is so awesome.
The migrant thing would work, cept for the fact that the only migrants they have here are bums and they all want money and booze...... I'm cheap and i like to hoard my alcohol. Lol just kidding. But yeah I just got ahold of some equipment, so hopefully the track will be fnished here real soon. I'm thinking within the next 2 weeks it'll be rideable......
11 ft centers and roughly 22" tall the last one is on the edge which will be a pit leading to a 5 foot table top and then into a 3 foot tall underground berm
