Is Thomson seatpost worth the add'l 35 grams over Ritchey?
Ritchey's Carbon 1-bolt mounting (in my experience) tends to rock the fore/aft if not tighten, BUT it's carbon to there is a torque limit...so I'm leaning towards Thomson, BUT also trying to be a WW.
I had some "issues" with an Easton carbon post and finally put a screw through the side of it in effigy to stick it to the wall in my garage. I replaced it with a Masterpiece and never got pissed at my seatpost agan. I also have Elites on my other two bikes and have no issues with them either, I'll never buy anything BUT a Thomson post.
Thomson! Aside from the fact that they rule, the adjustments on them are killer!
Is the masterpiece really 35g heavier? You could also look at it this way, on my high modulus road machine, aside from spokes and rims, the only non-carbon item is the masterpiece seatpost!
I'm not really sure how much weight I saved, but
I got a good deal on a ti bolt kit for the whole bike
for about a $100. It was to good of a deal to pass
up.
Best, John
