There is a British company called Fiber-Lyte that makes replacement carbon inner plates. Here is its website: Fibre Lyte - Cycle Products - Inner Gear Mech Plates

I know of at least one U.S. online retailer that carries Fiber-Lyte products: Fibre-Lyte Carbon Mech Plate [FL C Mech Plate] : Fairwheel Bikes, Cycling Boutique

    HAL,

No offense but, you might help yourself if you were a little more adventerous with the fiber-lyte website and/or Google. A quick search on Fiber-lyte's website provides a whole list of retailers who carry their product. Fairwheel may be the only U.S. dealer listed but the others, European, will redily ship to the U.S. I've used this French one before for other things. This page lists the part you are looking for: Drailleurs arrire - DuLight.fr - Le spcialiste des composants lgers pour toutes les pratiques du cyclisme The website is even available in English in case your French is not so bien.

sent them an email just waiting for a reply...

can't believe SRAM wants you to purchase the entire rear der kit just for one part.

How did you damage the plate?
Did the chain jump between the plate and the lower pulley? I'm asking because this appears to be a problem SRAM won't address.

    Chain Jumping the Plate
That is what has happened to mine. The chain jumped off on the rear and wore down the plate such that the chain WILL NOT stay on the jockey wheel now.

I have had the same thing happen to mine. Had to buy a new plate from R2 Bikes and a new set of Jockey wheels, not super stoked.

The bottom chain hook on the plate got broken too

Have your LBS call SRAM tech support. Their tech support is great and replaced mine with a new derailleur.

Just found this thread. Have 2 different SRAM XX Drivetrains and on both I have the issue with the chain running beside the lower pulley after some time. Changed the chain, changed the pulley wheels, changed the whole derailleur + drop out because I thought the frame might be bend. Still happens. Spend a fortune on this crap.

I had the same problem and it was driving me crazy. Ultimately, SRAM gave me a new RD, but I used a fix that worked. I found the idea in one of the forums, maybe this one? There are photos showing the fix. I took the cage apart and used J.B. Weld to build up the plate where it was worn and allowing the chain to jump off of the pulley.

I made it a little thicker than need be, but the chain quickly ground it down for clearance. This fix worked for quite a while.

Yeah I got some new cage plates from Fibre Lyte and installed them on the XX (They are not cheap as well). However problem came back after a while. SRAM replaced my derailleur twice so far. Am now on X0 type 2 with the Roller Bearing Clutch. Much more chain tension, issue is gone. But as soon as the drivetrain is worn I will switch back to Shimano XTR. SRAM is not for me.
