So I briefly had this setup-- 1 X 9 on a Transition Double :
But I did not like the FSA cranks because I thought they were flexy.
So I am trying to use these Holzfeller crankset with Howitzer Team bb (purchased from Transition Bikes). It's the 2-ring 36/24 version.
I was told that I could simply take off the small ring and use the large one for onebynine 1X9.
However, there seems to be a compatibility problem with the chainguide and chainline. Do I just need a different chainguide or is this just not going to work? The way I am measuring chainline with my other single speed mtb's, the sprocket is spaced about 0.5" (or less) out from the bb shell. However, with these cranks, the large ring is spaced out more like 0.75".
Also, the bash ring doesn't seem to be compatible with this chainguide. Sorry if this sounds like a stupid problem to have. I have many years experience in bmx and singlespeed mtb/road but, this is my first good geared setup.
This style of dual roller chainguide looks like it will work better. But, still, the chainline issue.... Anyone have experience with this?
