    Someone from RockShox help please?

I just purchased a brand new Reba RL 29er fork form my local bike shop. Its actually a mobile mechanic. He purchased it directly from SRAM. He installed it, not me, and before I could even ride the bike on the trails, the top of the lower assembly came off and all the air leaked out. I got him involved and he said that SRAM said they would send a new lower assembly and he would fix it.

My question is this: Why would I not just get a new fork from RockShox? It was a brand new freakin fork, never ridden, and it broke. Why do I have to spend that kind of money only to be sent replacement parts and repaired by a local mechanic? Does not seem very right to me!

Anyone from SRAM/Rockshox want to chime in and help out? Oh and by the way, its been a week now and still no repaired fork!

By the "top of the lower assembly" what do you mean? Are you talking about the top cap that threads into the stanchion tube that holds the schrader valve? Sounds like you might have got douped by your mobile mechanic. No shop buys directly from SRAM, they buy from distributors. If your mobile mechanic is a legit business make him send your fork back to SRAM for inspection and repair.

This is what happened. RockShox contacted me through Facebook and said for him to contact their warranty replacement dept and I would get a new fork.

Those seals just press fit into the fork. Have you tried to work it back down into the lowers with your fingers?

I don't have the fork. I don't think it should come off that easy. Keep in mind, it was only test ridden in the street, not trail ridden. I have another Reba with hundreds of miles and no problems.

Looks like a bad or dry o-ring blew the seal out. Not unusual if the fork has been sitting for a period of time or has not seen regular use.
