Pedal Insert Loose on XX1 Crank

I can't believe it...after 125mi the pedal insert on the drive side crank arm is loose. I looked at the crankarm boot, and there wasn't any deep scratch, and with the crankset being only 125mi old, I don't recall hitting anything. The pedal was tightened according to torque specifications (48-54 N∙m - p. 41 from https://www.sram.com/sites/default/f...e_manual_0.pdf). Actually, I recall thinking that torque was too high and went with a little less. Anyhow, has anyone else come across this issue? I hope SRAM warranties this and quickly!

SRAM stepped up and warrantied the crank. Kuddos to SRAM! I ran the torque specs by the guys at the LBS, and they agree that the torque is too high for tightening a pedal. I'm going to do the usual snug up + 1/16 of a turn.

I have the same issue on my X01 crank drive side. Causing a loud creak on the up stroke. Can see from the video below there is movement.

In contact with my place of purchase on the warranty. May I know if this is still safe to ride on until a replacement is fixed?

Just noticed same issue in my xo1 also, 1 year of moderate use.

Mine started a few months in, same as you all. Drive side. There was no visible movement, just a mystery creak that drove me nuts and compelled me to tear apart every movable and some not supposed to be movable parts on my bike in search of it. Twice. Three times for some of them. I could tell it was in the pedal-ish area and even there after swapping pedals, so in desperation, I lubed interface between the insert and the surrounding carbon.

    Blessed quiet.

After riding it through the following season, I could finally see some movement and took it to my LBS for warranty. After about a week turnaround, both cranks came back new with my old spider and shaft attached. Fair enough.

I think it's a QC issue, not a case of damage.
