Help ! Want to change front ring size

Hi all I have a 2018 trek fuel ex 7 with sram nx 1 x11 drivetrain but it has a 30t front ring which isn't enough range for me on steep long climbs. Which 28t rings would be a direct replacement and what's involved like shortening chains etc. Really appreciate your input.

Sram or WolfTooth make a DM (direct mount) 28T chainring for that crank and you would want a 3mm offset for Boost spacing. Sometimes you do not need to remove a link when going from a 30 to a 28, but I normally remove 1 link. Just need a 11 speed chain tool to push a pin out and re-use the quick link or replace it. Makes it a lot easier if you use a quick link tool to separate the chain. MLP - 1.2 and CT - 3.2 by Park Tool.

That's brilliant mate thank you . So I'm looking for a direct mount chain ring with a 3mm 0ffset and it should be a straightswap with a link out...
