    Looks great.

    I wish I had the equipment to do projects like that. Assuming your labor is free to you, can you buy the material and make one for cheaper than buying it from SRAM?

    Yes. My friend will be selling these for me. Price will be around $65 each plus a few bucks shipping.
    Performance is identical to the oem SRAM ring.... and not just for me or my buddy who are obviously subjective in opinion: we set up a few XX1 cranks with the black anodized version and our friends - who didn't know these were being made - didn't notice a thing (how many people notice their bike parts after the newness euphoria wears off). Weight is 6 grams lighter than the SRAM ring and the price is a pretty big difference.
