XT Brake Upgrade - 13' Stumpy FSR 29 Comp

I have finally had enough of the vibrations and sounds from the Avid's on my stock 13' Stumpy FSR 29'r Comp. I got a great deal on a set of 14' Shimano XT Ice Tech brakes and Ice Tech 180mm rear / 203mm front rotors. They are currently en route and I just realized I did not order adaptors .... is there any chance that the stock Avid adaptors for the calipers will work, or do I need to order Shimano specific adaptors?

Thanks in advance for your advice!

I did the same up grade and the stock Avid adaptors worked fine. Well worth doing.

This is good to hear! I put up with the Avid's on my 09' Stumpy until I got this 13' and then the 13' with Avid's started giving me grief ...... enough! Fingers crossed on the XTs!

Did you new XT's play nice with the SRAM shifters?

There's no matchmaker option, but they play fine. Just make sure the body of the shifters isn't pressed up against the bottom of the brake lever pivot. If it is, the brake lever might not return quickly.

I just remembered seeing these in doing my research ..... hoping the 14' XT's will work with these and my 13' SRAM shifters
