    The Wife's Myka got PIMP!

(I Know there is a sticky thread for this, but I figured it out that as I wanted to put a lot of pics It would be nice to open a new one, if you need to move it, jus do it)

    Part I:
Intro and Frame Set Paint Job

    So here is the story,

will do it as short as I can...

Im in the middle of a building project which is costing me a lot...the wife always felt like her bike was to slow (Stock 09 Myka HT) compared to my 09 Trek 4500...and now that I'm building another one with better components you can figure the feeling, which I understood.

So I decided to put on hold a little the building and spend 400 $ in components to upgrade her bicycle...

First...the color....she wasn't happy with the black, specially with the butterflys on it...so...as I already have contacted a powder coating shop to do my new frameset I decided to give them the wife's frame set....new color: White....V-Brakes Bosses gone.

    Frame-set before and after:

Part II New Components - New Bike

    So..what to do with 400USD?

Obviously I wasn't looking for super lightweight high end components...I wanted her ride to be smoother when compared to what she had....so if you are expecting carbon...you won't find it here

    what she got?

    - New Wheelset: Deore Disc hubs laced to some Sun disc specific rims.
    - Avid 09 BB5 Disc Brake Mtn 160mm Rotor Front and Rear
    - Jagwire Ripcord DIY Brake Kit, White
    - SRAM PG-970 11-34 9-Speed Cassette
    - SRAM X.5 9-Speed Trigger Shifter Set
    - Avid FR-5 Lever Set Black
    - SRAM X.5 Medium Cage Rear Derailluer Silver (Yeah I should bought this one black, my mistake)
    - SRAM PC-991 9-Speed Silver Chain with Powerlink
    - SRAM X.5 Low Clamp D-pull 31.8/34.9 Front Derailleur Black

So the Bike went from a very basic 7 speed to a (what I consider) very nice 9 speed Bike.

I realize that I don't have to many old bike color pics, and forgot to do it before the upgrade, so I won't be able to put a nice before and after on the bike.

    So here it is:

Part III The Ride - The End

so...the very next day after the build..we went for a test ride:

Her words: "Is just another bike! and now is fast!"

    Regards,

    Martin

PS 1: She bought for herself new Pedals and new Shoes....she doesn't like cleats so she bought a nice BMX platform set, which I think will give her a better grip with her new shoes.

PS 2: Now I have to clean two white bicycles!

Your wife's bike came out nice. I actually like it super clean with no decals. That's just me.

you paid $400 for that stuff??

otherwise, looks good. maybe a x.9 RD would have been worth the extra $50

didn't get it..was it too much?

you may have a point with the RD...but I wanted to keep it as near the 400 as possible

Thanks M...one thing I understood about the powder coating is that the decals won't last long on the frame (you can tell from the finish on the paint)....so we'll try some and see what happens...I bought some black art decals which I think are nice ...

I knew someone will ask...Paint job and posts removed: 30 USD...yeah.. no missing zeros....I did it with a large Powder Coating Shop who does large pieces and a lot of them..so this was kind of a favor to me.

I think it looks pretty damn cool. I would keep the decals to a minimum. Maybe an "S" on the head tube and be done.
