What's The Latest Thing You've Done To Your Specialized Bike?

Made a half arsed attempt at starting my new frame build.
Removed gxp cranks from stumpy comp fsr. Dry fitted them while i wait for NW ring for my 1x10 conversion. Test fit of forks with old stem. Fitted a rear wheel to feel excited about the prospect that it will be ridden soon!

Don't worry the forks are not on backwards and yes that orange wheel looks hideous on there!
Now to sit in the shade, post this and reflect on all that I have achieved

    Edit:

Still finding issues sourcing rp23 shock to replace brain. My local spec dealer has been given the run around by the local distro for fox, word on the street is they are being canned for a new distributor. Mechanic at same store has a '14 sworks enduro and suggested fitting a ccdb air over a new fox rp23/float X. Anyone else tried this route?

Overhauled my BB30 Pressfit30 bottom bracket on my Camber. It was another excuse to pick up more bike tools.

I didn't have any creaking. I did some crazy and unexpected river riding so I just wanted to make sure everything was still good. I also had a small clunk every now and then when climbing. My LBS couldn't figure it out. I honestly think they didn't believe me since they couldn't recreate it on the bike stand. So I bought my own BB tools and did the overhaul myself. I took everything apart. Right on down to the stainless steel bearings. Repacked, regreased, and pressed everything back in. The BB is running smooth and no clunk.

I heard that sometimes creaking sounds from a BB/PF30 is due to lack of grease on the exterior of the cups. The cups might be rubbing against the BB which in turn causes the creaking sound. Maybe you need to press out your pf30 and regrease the cups.

Thanks. I removed the crank cleaned and greased (didn't press out the PF30) and it seems more quiet. I'll see how it holds up after a longer ride.

What's The Latest Thing You've Done To Your Specialized Bike?-imag0012.jpgChanged the lowers on my Revelation 26 to 275, overhauled Monarch Plus rear shock, new tires (Honey Badger 275 2.2 front, Slant6 275 2.1 rear), new Demon front hub with Inferno 27 275 rim.

66.8 degree headtube at 150mm on the fork... Love it.

Nice, do you have a thread on your 650b conversion? How much clearance on your rear tyre? What year frame?

2010 Stump fsr expert carbon. It's my 3rd 275 stump fsr. With a wide rim it's about 8mm of clearance in the rear. With the 275 lowers on the front, there's miles of clearance. 20mm with that 2.2.

That Honey Badger blows away the Ardent 2.25. And I love the Ardent.

After 4 rides I got rid of the stock brakes on my 2013 Camber Pro.
Now I have brakes that work, Hope Tech Evo m4s

Almost done with everything I'd like to do with my 2012 Stumpy Comp before I start my next build. Latest additions have been Easton Havoc carbon bars, a Race Face Atlas 50mm stem, and my newest toys, Hope Tech Evo M4 brakes with floating rotors. Wish I would have gone for the stainless steel lines, but I can always add those later. Today will be my first ride on the new brakes.

    You'll love the Hope brakes!
I have stainless steel lines on my Knolly and regular lines on my camber and I can't feel any difference.

Good to know, I guess I'll be spending that money another way. Yeah, after the first ride I couldn't be happier with the M4s. Do you have any rubbing in the front on yours? I'm running the 203mm front rotor and I think it's rubbing on the fork.

Mine doesn't rub but the rotor comes very close to the fork on both bikes.

My single best upgrade(For the money) for the 2013 Epic Expert is the Shimano XTR M985 Front Derailleur from the stock SRAM X7. It's like night and day! X7 sux big time!

My overall best upgrade was Roval Control Carbon Wheelset.

I went from a Deore to XTR, I agree that it rocks. Did you need a longer cable? Since it sits lower I needed one. XTR has a much wider base then the SLX/XT and is much stiffer. Best $120 I spent.

Did you replace the shifter as well?

I replaced original SRAM grip shifter to Shimano XTs. They were excellent. I changed again to XTRs. Performance difference between XT and XTRs are minimal. XTs weighs about the same and has about 90% of the performance of XTRs.
XTs are absolute bang for the buck. If you want the best, XTRs of course.
    I'd be happy with XTs.

Finally set up my DT Swiss 420 sl tubeless with Ground Control 2.3 f & r. I used the to go version of Gorilla tape and it worked flawlessly.

I test rode them today and they worked perfectly.
