I brought home my Hardrock yesterday and took off the warning stickers and that is it, I have not even taken the reflectors off yet.

We the people ... Quite a few modifications today actually...

first off, I changed the shock position to the high BB setting...{but wait, won't that steepen your head tube}...yes that's why...

    so second, I raised the lower crown clamps to preserve the head tube angle...:{higher BB and 68.7 degrees; sweet!}

thridly (is that a word?) we have the finale. a good ole "Mik Mod" for the E-150 damper cart. {for those who don't know that is where you open it up down to the middle, find this one washer with a slit in it, and cut a bigger slit in it so more oil can pass through} this mod has little to no effect on the last 3rd of travel (bottom out felt the same) and the mid stroke is hard to tell, but the first 1/3 of travel went from sticky to super plush. for the first time ever (on this fork) I felt the need to use some compression damping. and i was able to use the recommended sag, without losing all my small bump compliance. (i used to run almost double the sag recommendation in order to have a plush ride on the rooted flats)
All together it took about 1 1/2 hrs, but the test ride in the parking lot was enough to tell somethings were better, way better...
It will take a real ride to know for sure, but if you are a lighter rider, on a med enduro sl, you probably need a mik mod...hit me up for details if you're not scared. I will post or edit in a week or two after some serious testing...

Splurged on some cool upgrades to my FSR Stumpy 29er Expert

    1. Easton MonkeyLite DH Bars with ODI Rogue Lock on grips (expensive! This changed the entire feel of the bike though-for the better, much better.) If you haven't ridden ODI Lock on Rogue grips-do yourself a favor. I love them.

    2. Conti Mountain King 2.4 29er tire in the front, 2.2 in the back. First ride on them today, out of the box the 2.2 looked too thin-but didn't dissapoint on the trail. Noticeable climbing improvement, huge downhill and cornering grip improvement, slightly speed decrease on pavement. The reviews on the 2.4s don't lie, this is a great tire. Steering on this bike has improved substantially, just with a tire swap! (It somehow shortened the wheelbase, bike handles way better.) I may replace the 2.2 rear with a 2.4 in winter.

    3. Swapped the stem for one of Specialized adjustable versions. Played around and 8 degrees and 75mm seem to be the fit. It takes me forever to dial in a bike fit-this bike no exception.

    ROLLIN!

ha ha, we got the same bike, sans the wheels...I got what i call the candy corn paint scheme, though spe called it "gloss white". really the fact that it's glossy is more important than the fact that less that 30% of it is white. I still love it though...was looking into I9's in oragne with white rims...

Got me a new set of wheels for my '08 XL FSR 29er.
Chris King "Brown" hubs laced to Flows and 36 spokes. I got them set up with Stan's tubless and Captain Controls for now. Hope they hold up to my 275lbs.
I picked up a set back Thomson seat post as well.
I've been dying to ride it this past weekend but was working around the clock on "the wife's" kitchen remodel.

Can't wait to get out and give them a spin.

Finally converted the front tyre to tubeless after getting a Eskar Control for the split S-works version and put a S-works on the front and Rogue grips which I had hanging about.

So I will post pics of the build as I now plan to leave it.

Need to grease the saddle rails as they're making a racket...
