    Stumpjumper frame size?

I went to the not so LBS yesterday to test some bikes.
My "local bike shop" suggest to me to get a medium/17.5" frame for a stumpjumper ht comp.
The not so local bike shop recommended a large/19" frame.

I know I should get whatever feels better but I am not experienced enough to figure what feels best by riding it around the shop or parking lot.

I am 5'10.75" have a 33" inseam and have an armspan of 74.5". According to specializeds website chart someone 5'10" is the start of the 19" frame. Would it be better to get a 19" or get a 17.5" and possibly a longer stem?

Taking a quick look at the site stand over on the 19" is 32.4" and the 17.5" is 31.3". Would that be a problem since my inseam is 33"?

For comparison, I'm 5'9 with a 32 inch inseam and ride a medium. I could still fit this bike if I were a bit taller. You could probably fit the large, but I'd imagine a medium, err 17.5 would be the best fit. Stand over height is only part of the equation, you have to look at top tube length too. I could stand over a large frame, but top tube length would be too long. I'd be a lot more stretched out on the bike than I'd want to be.
    Livin' the dream.

Stumpjumper frame size for 5'11 on mountain trails? Medium or Large?
Older thread, could be different with 29ers though.

    Stumpjumper frame size?

Stand over height is not the issue. It's more the reach and stack. I am 6'2 with a 34 inseam and I ride an Xl with a 90mm stem. According to their website I could ride either a large or Xl. I agree with oldskool that top tube length is key. Having said all of that I would probably go with the medium if I were you.

    I'm 5ft10 with 32in inseam and ride a 17.5. Fits perfectly, certainly wouldn't need a large.

Hmm, I'm 6' with a 31 inch inseam and purchased a large 2014 stumpjumper ht. The medium felt cramped to me when I rode it at LBS.

I'm 5'10" with about the same inseam as you, maybe a little shorter. I tried both sizes on some local trails at a demo event back in the fall. There wasn't much stand over clearance on the large but it was a much better ride.

With a different stem I maybe could have been comfortable on the medium as well. I had to have the seat so high to get good leg extension that I felt way too high relative to the handlebars.
