Hey all. I just bought an '07 Stumpjumper FSR about 2 weeks ago. I went on a long trail ride the other day, and on the ride home, there was a VERY loud squealing noise coming from what sounded like the rear hub. It has since happened a few more times. :madman: Are there ball bearings in the Specialized hubs, and is it possible that I blew one? Any ideas of things I could look for would be very helpful. Thanks.
On the non drive side there should be a rubber piece on the hub end (in between the hub flange and your dropout), sometimes these rubber pieces are a bit dry when they come from the factory. Take a knife or a razor(something flat to slide into the gaps), slide it in between the rubber and the hub on both ends and add a little grease. I've solved rear wheel squealing this way many times before.
