Specialized Brain v Fox X CTD V Crane Creek DB Air / DB AIR CS

I have posted this in the Suspension section of the forum, but thinking about it I thought that fellow Spec riders may be able to give a more informed decision....

I have a 2013 Specialized 29er Stumpjumper FSR Expert Carbon with the Brain currently fitted. Whilst I love the ride and handling ability of the bike, I do wonder if by changing the brain for say the Fox X CTD or Crane Creek DB Air / DB AIR CS would a) improve the whole riding experience and b) be a much better shock option.

In terms of riding style, I am a heavy rider than norm, ride mostly XC but enjoy a good downhill run, and go to Wales roughly once a quarter.

I would welcome your advise and opinion....

    Thank you in advance.

I believe the rear shock has stumpy specific mounting/linkage requirements that preclude a lot of stock options. I can't remember where I saw it so I can't link you.

Regarding questions a) and b)... those are very relative questions and answers. If the brain too harsh for you consider a Fox swap (stumpy compatible), but also consider that you would lose some power ti the ground unless you run a new shock in climb or lockout mode. If you can't tell, it is hard to answer this question on an internet forum

Thanks for replying Lowayne. I understand from MOJO here in the UK that it is possible to convert to the Fox X CTD shock - I suppose what I really need to know now, is there anyone out there that has done this conversion and if so did it make for improvements to the ride etc..
