Just under 30 lbs for that bike is awesome! Is that with or without pedals? If with, which ones? Any weight-saving mods? I know going 1x10 helps with the weight, but I didn't realize how much.

its without pedals, stock. So no mods what so ever. Thinking about switching to tubeless which shoud take away some weight

I'll pick up a 2015 SJ elite 29 sz large in two days. My guess: 31lbs. I'll update when it arrives.

Why Specialized won't put a decent set of stock wheels on a $4200 bike makes me shake my head - but that's for a different thread.

Looking at the pic it may be a measurement error. The bike seat looks like it's hitting the scale. From the view it could be leveraging a bit on the scale and giving a slight over measurement. A cleaner lift could show a lighter weight. Great looking bike either way.

I agree with this... something is off. It should probably be lighter than that. since there were no changed from last year really. unless that new seat post weighs a pound or so more than the old one haha

2015 Epic Comp, medium (buddy's bike...not mine). ~27.6lbs picked up from shop w/reflectors, pie-plate, test-ride pedals, SWAT cage/tool, but set up tubeless (weight of Stan's + valve stems vs. tubes...1/2 pound so maybe closer to 28 totally stock?). Just converted tonight to 1x10 with a Wolf Tooth so lost both OEM chainrings, front derailleur, front shifter, and cable/housing. Sitting at 25.97 pounds...outstanding! He runs CB pedals so those will be lighter than the test ride jobs so maybe another 1/4 pound to loose.

My 2015 stumpjumper fsr 29 elite totally stock size large is 29.8 lbs on my digital scale with xt pedals. 30.5 on the spring scale at the lbs with the reflectors and platform pedals. Should be easy to lose a lb with some better wheels. Maybe a bit more by deleting the brain.

Why buy the elite and delete the brain? Just curious.

I bought the elite for the Shimano components and the Pike fork. Had never ridden a brain shock before.

I don't really want to de-rail this thread on weight. My take on why the brain doesn't work very well is here.

I will share a pic though:
