Please help me out here. I want to buy a used bike on Craigslist.com, a 2004 Specialized Epic in medium size. I want to know if I can fit with this bike. I am 167cm = barely can be claimed myself as a 5'6" MAN. I am skinny, weight only 120lbs. I need your expertise on choosing the right size bike for me. Am I more suitable on the small or medium for a 2004 Epic? What about 2008?
Sorry I don't have the detail messurement of how long my legs down to the ground, but generally speaking, can you give me a approximately estimate on the size of bike that I should choose?
Finally, I bought myself this 2004 Specialized Epic. Nice bike. It's not too bad. The size feel just right. If I were in a small size bike, I could felt more crumple. I never have a chance riding on small size Specialized bikes, so I can't give comment on the comparsion. Just my thought about being on a medium bike.
Anyone have experience like me that can share here?
what pedal should I get? oh, I do flat pedals, I can't do cleat. Prices should be around $100. I used to have a pair of Trial King on my 04 Enduro, feel good but I want to get something new for this Epic. Any advices would be very appreciated.
I went with the small size and Im 5'6. Test rode both, but got the small to fit how I wanted it to. I mean, you can make the small fit like the medium and the medium fit a little bit smaller. Stem size, seat position, seat post etc.
nice to meet you.
i am also wondering of buying an 2008 epic.
I am 1.68 cm high
The local store thinks i should buy the medium, but the guy that works with the bike fitting method (http://www.bikefitting.com/English/Frame.aspx) recommends the small size..!!
The matter is not the horizontal length, cause ,you can have it tuned by changing stems, bars, etc
but how the weight is shared between the two wheels...
i am an cross country rider
Any opinion of someone who rides this bike would be helpful.!
Thanks..
I am167cm tall, I have a 2004 specialized epic comp in medium. It feels kind of big for me. When corning (at switchback), it's harder to pick a smooth line to turn. However, when I ride my Scott hardtail in small, (Not exactly same geometry but close) I feel I have more control over the bike, rather than Epic where I have to work harder to coordinate with the bike.
I say get the small epic. However, I think medium bike has a bigger market for re-sell.
thank you Xracing
That's an opinion too..
Compared to your scott, controlling the medium epic is harder ,or generally riding the medium epic is like riding a totally new bike..??
