    Shimming a seatpost

I can purchase a dropper seat post for a great price for my Stumpjumper. Problem is, it's a 27.2mm diameter and my seat post requires 30.9mm. LBS says I can shim the post so it fits. Looking for feedback about shimming vs purchasing the correct size.

    Thanks in advance,

The correct size is the best bet. Shimming is a second best alternative.
