New question here. Scratched Fork Sanction

After getting back from a muddy ride, I noticed that my right fork sanction has a long scratch down the front. I looked a bit on the forum and people recommendations for repairs are all over the place. There is no oil leakage around the seal so I don't think I should worry about fixing it. I only feel a slight bur in one area, and not sure if its worth sanding down with fine grit sandpaper and doing more damage.

    Any thoughts?

recommend using wet 1200~2000 grit sandpaper, with a light touch, to reduce the sharpness of the burr, there by keeping the seal intact.

0000 steel wool works too. Unroll a piece, hold both short ends, and use it like you are shinning a shoe; across the stanchion, not up and down
I think I'm not as good as I thought.

Thanks for your comments, I ended up using wet 1500 grit sandpaper to take out the burr. I was extremely careful and it worked just fine.
