Rockhopper fork replacement question hubs, etc...

I own a 2013 Rockhopper Pro 29er which I would like to put a new fork on.

Question 1: can my hub be modified to accept a different axle type?

    Spec describes it as this:

Specialized MTB disc hub, alloy, Hi Lo flange, RCC ball bearing system, steel axle, QR, 32h

Question 2: They put a 1-1/8th steerer fork on this bike even though it has a tapered head tube. If I bought a fork with a tapered steerer, what other changes would I need to make when installing? Assuming there is just some reducer bushing in there now?

I could build you a race-car in my garage tomorrow, but never wrenched on bikes, lol.

You will need to get the front wheel hub replaced, and as far as the fork goes, just get a tapered steer tube fork, which I'm pretty sure, just about all of them are now.
