Post shots of your winter rides

It's that time of year when you need every ounce of motivation to get your ass off the couch, brave the freezing morning. A time where every part of your body that can hide will (women excluded of course

I was out today and just had the sense that no matter what the weather, being on your bike is still the best way to relax. I figured this thread could act as the inspiration to encourage us to get out over the winter.

Those who are lucky enough to have good weather even in winter may sit back and feel blessed

My pics (not the best but it was cold so the camera didn't come out much) . . . Laggan wolftrax, Scotland. Temp -6

-6* C or F? I would imagine Celsius (and around 21* F), but just checking.

It has to be -6 C. -6 F + exposed skin = frozen flesh! 20F is still pretty cold!

Good pics broom. No rides for me for the past 2 weeks. 1ft+ snow here. But it's raining now and getting warmer. Soon hopefully.

Winter riding rocks!!!!! I was out last night a Fochabers Moray Monster Trails and there was still ice up on the trail even though it had warmed up during the day. I'm hoping to get to Laggan this friday after a crimbo bonanza of MTB related gifts and upgrades so will try and get some shots in of the upper red and the black. Is that a sheet of ice on the climb to the black broom broom?

    Hi Wil109,

I completely agree winter riding is fantastic, nothing better than getting a good ride done and retiring to the cafe for every item on the menu!!! that sheet of ice is on the old part of the red run, its the part with rock steps just after airs rock. The ice actually got much worse as we rode on, my advice is don't break, don't turn quickly and pray . . . which seemed to work for me and my friend (in the picture) I can't remember any ice on the climb to the upper red and black. It was really cold though as its so open up there. As you'll see from the photo there is a fallen tree on the main fire road, which is fun to negotiate.

How are the monster trails? i have been wanting to get up there for a while.

    Hey Broom broom,

The red is really poor just now, the wet summer seems to have degraded parts of it although its still worth doing, just not in poor light. I have a really good helmet light and it was still pretty scary. The freeride on the whiteash side is still immense. My friend and I did the Haggis and dragons tail a few times but my SL fork is causing a few problems so I didn't get that much out of it. I look forward to attempting bike skating at the end of the week.

The first snow of the year here in S. Cal. The famous Santa Anna River Trail (SART). Nice and cold but a lot of fun.

Here is a quick video of us discussing our Snow Ride at the first stop about 6 miles into the ride. One of the crew had a brand new 2007 Specialized Stumpjumper FSR Pro....

There are two paths you can go by but in the long run........

The guy in the video is actually on a Bianchi Rita 29er, but it was shot from the handlebar of my FSR 29er.

Weather here has been pretty mild this winter - - wearing shorts anyway.
