Mine's a bit on the portly side at around 32# but to be fair the stans flows/king hubs aren't the lightest, the command post doesn't help, nor do the heavy pedals, HR II rear tire is heavy etc......

What's the weight of the Comps stock wheels? The Traverse with the HiLos I mean. Been thinking of buying lighter rims to replace 'em and don't want to accidentally end up buying heavier ones.

Awesome bike Pike! Would've gone for an EVO myself if there would've been a Comp version of it, Expert cost too much and didn't really rely on the stock EVO:s xFusion suspension 'cause I'd never heard of it before.
Anyway happy with my Comp, soon even happier but more about that next week

Maybe a stupid question but what does "sl" stand for?

Btw take a look at the newly installed bash guard and chain tensioner.

Sick S-works! Damn my XL frame looks **** compared to the M:s and L:s, can't get over the gap between the top tube and the lower tube when they meet at the head tube, still kinda regret not getting a large since both the L and the XL suited me well.
Oh well, what do you guys think of getting a kashima coated RP23 instead of my current RP2? My dealer would have one removed from from an S-works frame. On the other hand I'd really like to test a coil shock on it, all that modifying to get one fit will be hard work though..

Talking about shocks me and my buddy are puzzled with this test. which I am not sure it is worth a thing.

I have a Specialized Enduro 2010 Expert with RP2 with Boostvalve. He has a Comp with RP2 plain.

When lifting the rear tire 1 1/2 ft from the floor by grabbing the seat and letting it bounce, mine DOES NOT bounce. It is like a magnet sucks it into the earth. On the other side, his bounces!

For you starting to make some theories, we both have sort of the same air pressure, which is around 230 psi, and both are L, and both have like 35 psi in the tires.

Is it mine better because it will stay put instead bounce like a rabbit or maybe is not even worth 2 cents.
    What do you think?

Haha. That's an odd question. Are the reboound settings the same? Anyways, I would say no bounce would be better because the rebound is doing its job.

My biggest problem is bottoming out. I am on the small size for rider weight, around 130 without gear. I am 5'11 and ride a large. With 170 in the rear I do seem to bottom out harshly. It isn't just on drops, even plowing through rocks. I do plan on doing some resort riding with the bike so an upgrade would be nice.

Try2kpup, did you get your Monarch from Push?

So I just picked up a 2010 Enduro Evo (frame) and I will be swapping over my Sektor RL 150mm for the time being. Trying to get a consensus on what 160mm fork to throw on this thing. I like coil sprung forks and was looking at the Fox 36 Van or a Marzoochi. Looking for some feed back on what might be the better selection. The rear shock is DHX RC2.

For you and everyone considering a rear shock change from the RP2, I suggest getting the Fox volume spacers for the shock before going drastic with a full shock change.

The volume smallest volume spacer filled in the soft midstroke and dialed the bottom out to more a of a coil-like couch feel. That and the RP2's is tuned to the Enduro (& rebound damping is quite good)... off the shelf aftermarket shocks are not tuned to the Enduro and will be hit & miss (been there, done that... multiple times, the shims are more important to the tune than the fiddly knobs)

I now run more sag, bottom less and have a firmer midstroke.

Regardless, $25 for a 15 minute change experiment - may as well lube that shock too.

It's good for me, read here:

I could never get my rp2 to set up right, It was either too stiff and wouldnt use all of its travel, or was too soft, and would blow though it. That and it fades pretty quickly do to its lower oil volume, causing it to "pogo" on long decents...
Yes, I got mine from PUSH. But I believe they have stepped down from selling custom shocks to get back into simply tuning. At least for now.

This is a good first step, I agree. However, as mentioned above, the RP lags far behind in the damping area when compared to other offerings. And the RP on the enduros isnt really tuned for the bike, its just an off the shelf medium tune made for a wide range of riders. Nice thing about a PUSHed shock (monarch or otherwise) is that it IS tuned for the bike, rider, and riding style.

Latest changes are cut steerer tube and a 1x10 conversion.
So now it's otherwise stock except for:
    36t e13 guide ring
    Truvativ XO taco
    Straitline Vertical Wedge stem
    NS Bikes Aerial pedals

Next upgrades will probably be a RF Atlas FR bar and a X0 gear lever.

Yes, but off the shelf shock tune of medium = ? from other shock makers, which is a crap shoot, while the Enduro RP is in the proper range.

I haven't experienced fade. I usually get leg fade before I feel the shock fade

lost parts for my 2005 enduro pro need help

some how 1 part was lost in transit between myself the bike store and the rebuild from fox on my rear air shock. I am not the most handy of all people when it comes to bike stuff but thought i could handle taking off the rear shock to send it away for new seals. anyway long story short all the bearing had seized up on my bike so i bought them and replaced them all. Well come to find out i lost a 3.5mm angeled washer that fits between the frame and the shock strut itself. I called specialized and they said like 80.00 for a complete new bearing kit and all. no exceptions. I cant afford this now as i have already dumped so much into getting her up and running. The part i am looking for should really be 2-3 dollars max. Anyone have an old enduro there parting out. please help.

    Thanks
p.s. the upper bidwell Chico trails are calling and i need to answer.

Sorry to hear that. What about a hardware store. These are not "Specialized" parts. I had luck ordering a screw and they've sent it for free!

No but I have a popping noise from the shock area while moving the shock up and down by hand on an enduro expert

I also have a weird popping/clicking/snapping sound that I can't quite diagnose. Only does it while riding though and seems to come from the front end.

I also have a weird popping/clicking/snapping sound that I can't quite diagnose. Only does it while riding though and seems to come from the front end.
Turns out the DU Bushing is bad on my Enduro....Damn Already?
We will never know our full potential unless we push ourselves to find it.

Looking good. Is that a 180 Talas?

Did you have those Chunders laying around, or are they still in stock at Bike Shops?

It is a 180 talas and no they don't make the Chunder anymore.

Considering a new enduro at 172cm tall, what do you guys think. I'm obviously between a small and medium. Leaning towards the medium, on a 17.5 trek remedy now. But I've heard the speshies seem to run a little large.

671, SICK! I've just got to get that shock and those links. Tired of the RP2, loud, unsmooth and doesn't perform that great. Just wondering though, how much is the weight penalty, cost and how is the pedal bobbing, worse than with the RP23?

Red Dog, depends if you prefer comfort on longer trips (M) (f.e. from your home to the forest/bike park/trails) or having better control over it in descents et.c (S).
I'm 186cm (will grow probably a couple of cm:s still) and went for the XL since I didn't want the cockpit to feel cramped. That said, I'd probably have chosen the L today.
Changed to a shorter stem though (from 70mm to 50mm), fiddled with the saddle and now it fits like a glove.
My point is, I think you'll be good either way you go. In your case I'd probably go for the medium though.

Medium (good for XC) with a shorter stem (good for FR). Best of both worlds.

    Hi matey

I am 170 and i ride a small 2006 Enduro with a 65mm stem, mine has a 56,6mm horizontal TT ( acording to Spech) the newer model had 56 so it`s a tiny shorter....if i were you i would try to ride both, Spech has some "test rides", check for them at their site. S or M, Enduro`s are great bikes, be sure of it

It was about $600 for the EVO kit. It's worth the cost. DH it works great! and going up its about the same its all in your setup. The talas forks help alot for climbing and tight stuff dropped down to 140 the bike is quick. Think about getting that RP23 pushed if you don't want the weight penalty, i hear good things about their work.

I put up a post in the general forums for this already but I wanted to post here as well.

Does anyone have the specialized head tube reducer laying around by chance that allows a straight 1 1/8 steerer??? Its on backorder and as far as I can figure out there isnt anything other than that reducer that will allow a straight steer tube.

I am 1.75 m and use the large one on the 2010+ model. I had a 2008 Medium and always felt cramped in the bike.

I had to modify the stem to a 45mm one and works like a charm!

So here's my 2011 Enduro comp. I just changed over to a 1x9 drive train and have a 34t front and an 11-34t rear. Soon I will be upgrading to the EVO kit as I really don't care for the air shock and weight isn't really an issue for me. Also have a set of status wheels coming that I scored for a really great price. Was going to them on my demo, but the Enduro could use a stronger than what came stock.

Does anybody here got a 2012 Enduro Evo ?
Reason i asked because i been having problems with the rear XFusion coil shocks rubbing onto the frame and it chipped through paint already, they made a pretty bad design with the frame and shock i guess, my LBS been helping me out with it through spesh warranty guys, so far they replaced the coil to a smaller diameter, but still rubs. Spesh sending over a Fox shock this time, they did not say what kind. what you guys think about this? i think they should replace the frame too, my LBS says they dont have my frame size right now and they put me on the waiting list, i think they should give me a whole new bike =)

I've never heard of that, you're the first complaint I've seen with the shock rubbing the frame.

If it has chipped the frame, and it is noticeable, argue for a new frame. Obviously something is wrong with the way the bike was put together and they are responsible for the damage to the frame. Talk to your local bike shop and get a new frame, you are not at fault.

    +1 on that one.

Now, I am sure you all have been in that situation where your bike get's nasty scratches or chipped paint and nobody but you know how painful it is. You start wondering how to cover it, and even think about taking the frame for a pint job. And then you wonder about the decals. Oh God, what a nightmare.

I chipped my 2010 Enduro recently and ended up selling it because I couldn't stand it, now I am days away from an almost new 2011 Enduro Pro with Fox FLOAT 36 R and almost all components new!!

Will post pics as soon as I get it built.

yeah, that's def not normal. Looks like there's a problem with that particular frame. I would definitely argue for a new frame. I have a 2011 expert evo and the coil is much further away from the frame than that is.

Good luck with the process and keep us posted.

Wow, yeah, that looks bad. they should definitely give you a new frame for that. Like others have said, it's not a common problem and seems to be a one-off in your case.

Looking at the picture of the shock and where it's rubbing on the frame in both spots. There could be something wrong with the link also. Almost looks as if under compression, its pushing the shock up and into the frame. I would get Specialized invoiced and also recommend you push for a new frame.

If you're the only one having this issue out of all the Evos sold this year, then there is something out of line established while being manufactured. Something could be off by a couple millimeters and could be causing the shock to hit the frame like that.

Have the Fox shock put on that is already headed your way, while you're there, tell your bike shop you want a new frame and you are not at fault of the damage. And that you want to test ride your bike to make sure that the problem had to do with the shock and not something incorrect on the frame. Take the bike out for a ride and see if it hits, if it still hits, then something on the frame is out of line. If it doesn't hit then there was something wrong with the shock, keep that Fox shock and go back to your lbs and get a new frame. The only downside to this is that it could turn into a witch-hunt: What if you get a new frame and it still does it, then the problem could be in the link being off. Just do one step at a time.

I would stick to this, even if the Fox shock doesn't hit, you still want a new frame that was damaged caused by a flawed product directly from the factory.

Thanks for all you guys input! I'll definitely stress on a new frame, i should hear from the guy that takes care of the warranty stuff at the LBS today, ill keep you guys posted. BTW they guy told me that Spesh rep mentioned theres many enduro evo '12 complaining about the rub too, and they're taking care of it. Let's see what happens.

Coil bug got me.. My LBS hasn't got Evo packs for sale but they're getting some 2011 Evo Experts tomorrow. Hopefully there will be some left still after I return from UK so that I could at least test if it's worth the money. If it is they might take a shock and link off one of the bikes so I would get it.
Plan B is trying out a 2009 DHX 5. Size is 215/64 so it might just fit. Won't be cheap though, hoping for lots of money for my b-day and from my summer job :P

//S2ramz, that's awful and awesome at the same time. Awful 'cause of the lost ride time and unnecessary head ache, awesome 'cause you're getting a new frame and more importantly, a Fox shock to replace that X fusion. Congrats!

This is a known problem w/ the X-Fusion Coil. AFAIK it had too much 'girth' i.e. too fat.
I think it was a problem on the large frame and the 500 or 550 coil.

Since the evo frame is exactly the same as the enduro frame, I would argue for a carbon enduro frame and bolt on all your evo build kit to it. I doubt they are out of carbon enduro frames.

Shoot. Do you think 1600 is a good deal for a lightly used 2010 enduro with a hammerschmit front crankset and X0 shifters with an X9 derailleur?

Very good deal: if it was lightly used and doesn't look like it was thrown around.

I agree. If hunt enough you could probably find a 2011 new in a shop that has old inventory. The shop by my house was blowing out 2010's when I bought 2011 comp. They even had mine on sale to ready for the 2012 that were coming. Either way, if it's not beat to hell and in good shape 1600 not bad.

Nice looking Enduro. Is that the new frame? Or are you going to test the shock out first?

I am planning in doing the same upgrade (well not quite) to my 2011 Enduro Pro, but because I am broke now I've bought a new 2007 Manitou Swinger SPV 4-Way Coil. I am planning in working on the shock to fit it to the regular links (not the EVO).

Should be awesome after the mod.

So I finally got my local shop to get me a price on the evo kit, and needless to say I won't be it anytime soon. They quoted me $680.00 for the kit. I think I'll give Push Ind. A call and get the monarch they make.

Hey retrofred, I am trying to do a poor man EVO upgrade because it is simply too much to buy from Specialized. I will use a Manitou Swinger SPV 4-Way 215x63 with a 9 mm thick washer to reduce stroke from 63 mm to 54 mm. According to a document found on the internet, the shock eyelet can be modded on a lathe to fit on the normal links.

I will keep you all posted if I succeed. =D

Keep me posted on how you get to fit. I have a fox van rc in an 8.5x2.5 that I could mod to work, but just haven't gotten around to doing it

Is that price including a shock? If so which one?

Yah that with an RC2, for that price it should come with at least an RC4 kashima.

Glad to hear. What adjustments does the RC2 have?

I have a dhx coil on my enduro sl and it took a while for me to learn the settings and riding style of the shock. It was my first coil. I know on my shock the rebound has a lot to do with the way the shock reacts and performs. Try 3 clicks of rebound from full fast, then try 5 clicks. The thing with coil shocks is that the faster you ride, the more rewarding they are.
