    Re: Official Specialized Camber Thread

    Nice looking bikes guys!

I've got a '13 Camber Comp. Recently got hooked up with a 120 Pike & got it put on last week! In all, I've got the Pike, a short 35mm Straight Line stem, 780mm bars & SLX brakes. Also an e*thirteen wheelset. And a Reverb dropper post. That Pike is SO smooth it's crazy. It's a whole new bike.

I ended up removing 2 links, looks like you can only remove in 2's . I could remove another 2 . Was your front chain ring a 32 or 30T and did u have a type 2 derailer ?

Ah re read your post , you had a 30T FS so 4 links , I put on a 32T FS so 2 links should be fine. I am testing this drivetrain out tomorrow . I wish there was a way to remove 3 links but its paired in 2's one narroe and one wide .

It looks really nice but, for what you spent adding on you could of just bought a camber comp carbon and had money to spare.

Yeah dont do this, I just bought some new renthal carbon light bars at 740mm wide in a 10mm rise and also bought the duo stem that is 50mm, its was great going down hil but climbing was not so great, I returned the stem and now have Truvativ AKA All Mountain 80 5-Degree and its much better. BTW im 6'1" on a large frame.

I actually didn't spend that much. But retail on the changed parts, yes, it's a lot. He he...

Just picked up a '14 Evo Comp at the LBS. Got it built out to my initial liking and out on a shakedown. Posted thoughts over in the 29er forum. It's a companion to my E29 S-Works.

I would not recommend to buy these aluminium bolts to anyone. It's way too much expensive toy, and made of very-very soft material (the bolt-head gets broken easily, creating you a trouble to get the bolt out of the crank)... You can rather save 95% cash, and buy classic steel bolts.

Upgraded my drivetrain to 1x10. Raceface N/W 30T ring, XT cassette with One-Up 42t+16t sprockets added, and an SLX chain.

It's been great so far. I did have to snag a longer b-tension screw though.

I also upgraded to a Butcher 2.3 up front. It's been fantastic so far!

Now I just need to wait for my buddy to re-lace my rear Roval Control Carbon wheel and I'll be done...

Did you have to shorten your chain ?

I went from 36T to 30T upfront and removed 4 links. Running 11-34t cassette, considering the move to 40T

I want to do the same thing , I want the one up componets 40T and it comes with the 16T replacement cog . This should provide a smooth shift transition .

My Front original was a 38T and went with a 32T , removed 2 links from the chain and my cassette is 11-36 . I am hoping the chain should still be long enough if I mount that 40T cog out back .

Broke the KMC chain couple days before the 4th. Must have been all that cross chaining before going 1x10. Went with an XT replacement, only thing the LBS had in stock. The knuckle head put it on backwards. Good thing they gave me an extra pin.

I was incorrect in my earlier post, the Camber came with a 11-36t cassette, not 34.

I broke my KMC chain at about 250 miles. Ended up replacing it with a Shimano XT chain. The LBS said he didn't know why bike manufacturers didn't put the XT chains on original aside from saving a dollar per bike. He did make sure I knew that they could be put on backwards.

Stretched my chain to replacement values in about 1000 miles. Replaced it with another KMC as I was happy with the performance. Breaking chains prematurely can also be a sign of bad form.... spint he pedals at a higher RPM( 75-90) instead of mashing them....

Believe me when I say I don't mash pedals, that crap wears you out. Though to be fair The KMC chianti on my 20212 held up until it stretching called for a replacement. I think what my LBS was saying is that there is a higher probability of a chain break with KMC chain vs Shimano.

I read somewhere that KMC manufactures all of the Shimano chains except for the XTR and Dura Ace chains. I use kmc and have never broken one. I think they are as good as it gets when is comes to chains.

Guilty as charged, hammering uphill while down shifting.

The only chain I have broken was done by shifting as I dropped off a curb and stood on the pedal (on my old bike)... not saying they can't break under "normal" use, but it is a lot less likely.
