New Vs. Old((er)08-06) Stumpy FSR Comp

Which would be better for someone getting their first FS: Spending more for a new bike OR Saving a little money by going with a used model from a few years back?

Is the new Stumpjumper FSR Comp worth the money I could save for upgrades on an older model?

I have a 2006 Specialized Enduro...I recently bought a new Mt Bike(Trek)..I preferred the way the 2006/07 Enduros and Stunpjumpers looked then, just a personal thing..I thought those years where some of the best looking Mt Bikes on the trails.

Depends. You get the warranty with the new bike. You can get more bike if you get an older one, though. Which is more important to you?

I have owned both an older 2004 Stumpy and currently a 2010. Both bikes were/are alot of fun. But, I would definitely go with the newer technology if money allows. The new suspension design is superior to that of the older Stumpys.

I had an 06 Comp and bought a 10 Expert in July. For a first bike I think you will be just as happy with an older model - assuming it has been taken care of.

I loved my old bike. I wasn't planning to replace it but I got a deal that I couldn't refuse. Sure the new one is more capable but its still 90% rider.
