    More 2011 Epic 29er questions

I'm getting close to pulling the trigger on a new 2011 Epic 29er (non S-works frame), but I need to understand a few things a little bit better. First: does this frame accept any bottom bracket, or do you have to use a truvativ pressfit 30/bb30? If I do use the bb30, can I use a Shimano crank, or at this point are you forced to use a Truvativ crank?

Also, I just noticed last night that the frame uses a direct mount front derailleur. Since I'm planning on swapping the drivetrain over from one of my current bikes, I was planning on staying with my 9 speed setup. Can someone confirm that I can use a 9 speed Shimano front derailleur on this frame? From what I can tell, I'll need to buy the E type front derailleur and then remove the bracket from it.

Between the 142+ hub/rear triangle, the direct mount front derailleur and (possibly) the semi-proprietary bottom bracket, there is enough odd/weird/non-standard stuff about this frame to make my head hurt....

Thanks for any and all help!

it has the standard 73mm bottom bracket
    you need the E derailleur
Should come with a rear hub so you can build up a wheel for the rear
got the same frame on order

cant wait for it to get here

Can you post up when you have gotten the frame. It would to confirm that the frame comes with the hub. Any idea when it's supposed to be delivered?

They don't have one for the alloy frames because the alloy frames use regular 73mm bottom brackets.

An additional question. Can I use a remote lockout for the Comp 29 Epic Reba fork? Or do I need to change some internal stuff first?

    That would be a yes...

    http://www.sram.com/rockshox/products/reba-rlt

The fork is a Reba RLT and Rock Shox says its compatible with the following remotes: PushLoc, PopLoc Adjust and Poploc.

    Cheers!

My LBS said any MegaExo BB would screw right into the Comp Carbon frame. They also said that Specialized sells a sleeve that goes in the PF30 in the Expert frame that is the same sleeve in the Comp Carbon so any MegaExo BB would work on the Expert frame once the sleeve is installed.
