Largest Tire Size On 05 Stumpy FSR?

Any chance I can fit a 2.5 tire on my 2005 Stumpjumper FSR? I've got the Manitou Black fork up front, but it's got plenty of clearance. It's the rear that I'm concerned about.

If it fit, it would be just barely. And if your wheel were to get out of true, which is bound to happen sooner or later, it'll rub against the chainstays. That would suck.

I would go with a 2.3. Or even an Enduro 2.2. They run a little big and work well imo.

I used to run a 2.3 nevegal on my 05 stumpy and the clearance was fine and it gripped like a champ. I was definitely pushing the max size for the frame though you probably aren't going to want to try anything bigger to be honest nor will you really see a major difference in the handling vs what that bike was designed for.

BTW: The 05 frame is for sale med
Progression is fine just remember to respect your roots.

Ya, I kinda figured 2.5 would be just barely too big. Oh, and thanks for reminding me Muggsly, I've been meaning to get some wider off-road tires, and nevegals would be perfect.
