    Help please, disc rub on Enduro (2004) driving me mad!!!

    Hi guys,
    just wondering if anyone could help me sort out this very annoying disc rub problem??
    I have a Specialized Enduro (2004) pretty much stock build.
    The problem I'm having is that whichever way I try to set up my front brake (shimano 555) it rubs. I can get the pads to stay away from the disc but as soon as I pull them one pad immediately adjusts itself to be tight on the disc again. (The disc isn't warped either).
    I just wondered if anyone has had the same problem or could anyone give me any tips on getting these brakes setup properly.
    Now I'm no mechanic but am willing to have a go at anything. The last time I had to change the pads the one that always rubs the rotor was worn out whilst the other was hardly worn at all........

    Any help or advice on setting up these brakes would be very much appreciated.

    Someone will probably come along with some better suggestions, but I would say that either the caliper is not aligned properly (little spacer washers which centre the caliper on the disk) or it needs bleeding properly...

    I can't think what else it could be, unless it is a fault with the front brake!

    try the brake forum, but it sounds like you have some sticky pistons...

    You've got to eyeball the caliper and get it dead center on the rotor. On my front brake one piston always retracts a bit more than the the other so I center the caliper according to that. It doesn't matter if the pistons pull evenly, as long as they return to their original starting point after you release the brake and you had em centered that way. Also, true up your rotors in a quiet room so you can hear the slightest rub and use small corrections with your tool of choice-crescent wrench, drumstix etc.

    Try having the barke mounts faced, this ensures that the mounts, calipers and disk all line up in perfect parrallel to each other. Its a simple procedure you just need to right tool which your LBS should have. I recently had my brake mounts faced and all my disk rub problems disappeared in an instant only to leave me wondering why I hadn't done this sooner.
