Front chain rings for Epic Marathon

Looking to swap to a bigger front chainring set on the s2200 cranks. Currently have the 38/24 fitted and looking to go with 39/26 or 42/28. According to user manaul I can run the same front SRAM derailleur? Is this correct? Seems to be some sort of direct mount to the frame with not much scope for adjustment. Also how can I identify if they are BB30 or GXP cranks? Appears SRAM do different chainrings? Do I also need to get the spider or just the rings?

The 38/24 chainrings on a SRAM S2200 carbon chainset (rebadged SRAM X0) use a 104/64mm BCD spider. You can get larger aftermarket rings in the correct BCD that will fit, or alternatively replace both the rings and crank spider to run larger size SRAM chainrings. You need a 120/80mm BCD crank spider to fit SRAM 39/26 or 42/28 chainrings. It's easy to change as the spider unfastens with three allen bolts. No special tools needed.

The SRAM S2200 chainset on a Specialized Epic Marathon will be the BB30/PF30 model. I think it's printed on the spider? If you want to make completely sure remove the crank and measure the crank spindle diameter. BB30 refers to the 30mm diameter size of the crank spindle.

You can keep the existing SRAM front derailleur if you only fit 39/26 chainrings. If you fit 42/28 chainrings then you'll need a new front derailleur in the correct size also.

Pefect. All the info I need. Many thanks for this. Now just to decide on the 39/26 or 42/28....
