I'm trying to convert the stock wheels on my shiny new Epic Expert 29er to tubeless. They have the stock DT 450 rims, with the stock blue tape. I moved the stock front Captain to the back, and it aired up tubeless in about 2 seconds using a compressor.
I tried a Fire XC 2.1 -- my favorite training tire -- up front, and it almost falls onto the rim. Nearly as bad with a Geax Saguaro. They fit so loosely that neither wants to inflate. With such a loose fit, I'm not overly confident about riding them tubeless, even if I can get them to air up.
Both of these tires have worked flawlessly for me over the years on Bonty TLR rims, which must have a slightly bigger outer diameter, because they take a bit of effort to mount.
Any suggestions for a tighter fitting all conditions front tire in the general category of the Fire XC to put on this rim?
Thanks!
