    Epic Comp 29 Stem Length

So I'm looking to change out my stem on my 2012 Epic Comp 29 from the standard 105mm length stem to something shorter due to the fact that I rarely race and mostly use the Epic for general trail riding and I'm looking to make the bike more ergonomically friendly on my back/neck. Has anyone had any experiences with shorter stems/longer handle bars on an Epic? I'm 6'1 and ride a Large frame. I'm thinking a 70mm stem with a 720mm 3/4 riser handlebar.

I would start out with a 90mm first, a 70mm seems like a big jump from stock.

Im running a 70mm on stumpy fsr xl frame. Stock was a 90mm. I noticed a big improvement in handling. Uphill switchbacks are easier, and on the downhills the bike seems more responsive. As for climbs I didnt notice much in that department besides I have to move little more forward on the bars.

I just called my LBS and they have a bunch of different stems I can test before buying one. What length are you running on your handlebar with the 70mm stem?

I would highly recommend an syntance stem after you test several different stems out. They are super stiff, light, and come with TI bolts along with a 10 year warranty.

105mm is way WAY long for that kind of bike. 720 bars are kind of on the small side. I'd highly recommend going 800mm bars with a 70mm MAX stem. You'll find the reach similar, but less twichy and you'll be more in control.

    You're turning black metallic.
