Here is my 03 hardrock i picked up from a lady who rode it 4 times and then stored it in her garage for 10yrs. So its basically brand new and i got it for $75. I love it and ride the crap out of it. I switched out the pedals and put kenda 2.35 tires on it. Looking for a cheap fork upgrade and then ill ride it till the wheels fall off!

'13 Rockhopper 29er(base model) upgrades include:
Reba RL dualair(Imo WAYYY better than solo air)
    Deore drivetrain
    Deore m596 brakes
    Deity decoy pedals
    Chris king BB
    ODI Lock ons
    Stan's (amazing!)
Next in the list is a set of ZTR's with triple butted spokes and king hubs.

It's no weight weenie XC racer, or even a trail bike, but damnit it rides like a boss.

Here's my 1998 Ground Control FSR Comp. I got it from Craigslist for $200 a couple weeks ago. Took it home and cleaned and lubed all the pivots, re-packed the rear hub and headset, and serviced the rear shock. The Judy T2 was tired, sticky, and had a broken top cap, so I picked up a 1997 Judy XC for $80, serviced the cartridge and used that and it's top caps in the T2 along with Risse Racing full coils. Had a nice 13 mile inaugural ride last Friday after work and I'm loving it.

Testing out my new M4 Hopes, in Wyoming. I like the 183 rotor in the back plenty of power, however I might try 160.

New to riding, only been out twice and got my butt kicked both times. Finished but gased. It was great! :-)

I started with a 2012 Stumpy FSR COMP 29 Large, and now have an entirely different bike from replacing every single part. lol
    24lb, 2oz as shown.

Frame - Medium 2012 FSR SJ Expert Carbon
Wheelset - ZTR ArchEX on ZTR 3.30 hubs. Awesome wheels.
Tyres - Ground Control S-works 2.1 front and Fast Track S-works 2.0 in the back. (tubeless)
    Cassette - Sram X0
    Cranks - Sram X0
    Bakes - Sram X0
Shifter - Sram X0 twist shift
Rear derailleur - X0 short cage
    Exustar E-PM215 pedals
    Converted to 10x1 with a HomeBrewedComponents.com 36t front chainring.
    Easton Monkeylite XC CF Handlebar
WTB Pure-V Team edition saddle (Ti rails)
    Thompson Masterpiece seat-post
    Ibis 90mm neck
Lefty Max converted to 29 110mm travel, Project321 adapter.
Kettle Cycles Siccc SFL rotors 200/160

I took my time and found each part used or on super discount. Wheelset, tyres, and cassette each made big differences. Going 10x1 dropped another 10oz and I can't really say I've missed granny gear for what I ride.

I am missing my long fork travel, so will be replacing the Lefty with a Reba Revelation 140mm fork.
Looks very sweet, I understand about the fork ... But I'd go for a Float or a Talas ...

So since no one responded to my thread I will ask it here. I just got my hands on a BRAND NEW 95 rockhopper (steel of course) as in. never been ASSEMBLED. I'm torn between upgrading it to deore/Mavic/Avid and trying to keep it bone stock.

I imagine the original treads are beef jerky after 18 years on a shelf. so I'll be swapping those as well as pads when I do a full tune.

    but... TORN!

I'd use it till things break and replace as you go. Unless you have plenty of $ to waste.
