Spent the week before the LT100 in Lake City acclimatizing, 4 wheeling, and enjoying some of Colorado's high county single track.

I'm sure the guy who neatly piled the leaves is happy with you...good thing there were not stones or hard branches in the pile, that would have been nasty...

My 2001 or 2002 (forget what year) Specialized P.3
Pretty much stock except for a few changes
Fork: Marzocchi Z3.5 with thicker oil to reduce rebound
Seat: Titec DH Berserker Saddle with titanium rails
Tires: IRC Kujo DH for the trails/mud and Maxxis Holy Rollers for my everyday tire (just installed so nice)
Pedals: Stock Specialized P.3 pedals with metal pins and added on Power Grips straps
Grips: Just ordered ODI Rogue Locking grips
    Computer/Cyclometer: Specialized Speedzone Sport Wireless
Toby Hendersen Enterprises (THE) Black Front Fender
Lizard Skins Chainstay and Headset Guard (Black)

Bike is an absolute blast - fast, maneuverable, relatively light bike - frame is a medium size.

    My baby!

    Upgrades:

Stans Flow Ex on Hope Pro 2 Evos
    RaceFace Bars
    Hope stem & bar ends
    XT brakes
    XT shifters i-spec

I also swapped over the Reba Lowers from My Trek HT so the Spesh has white lowers and the Trek now has black -= which matches both bikes much better!

    WTB Pure V saddle

    SLX shifters

Evo has a shorter top tube and I just felt too tight with a 55 or a 60 mm stem, I'm building a hardtail right now and I'm going with a 60 mm stem. Coming from a road background, I am just used to being stretched out. Personal preference mainly due to comfort. I was told that I would probably be more comfortable with a shorter stem on the Stumpy EVO, but I had a 55 mm and it did not feel comfortable.

Here's my first 29er, Epic Expert Carbon Evo R 29, although it's more Evo T(rail) with a 120 mm fork than Evo R(acing). The big wheels make winter riding so much easier because of soo much more traction than on a 26" bike.

Long story short...I am getting into biking due to my knees and don't think that the road genre is for me. I am drawn to Specialized for some unknown reason. I really only want to spend in the $500 range for my first bike, but think the RockHopper is probably the way I want to go. I will do some city riding and not sure how extreme I will go, but I live in DFW and there are some great trails in the HIll country and nearby that I bet I get into.
Anyone own a Rockhopper that can help? I'm not in the range for the higher end bikes yet...but this brand is calling me.

Nice bike, gotta lose the saddle bag though, takes away from the toughness of the bike. Otherwise, I love the stealthy looking wheels. I have the FSR Comp Evo so I'm not familiar with the Brain, but I hear good things about it, some people don't like it though, but overall, I hear more positive than negatives. Have fun. Remember, rubber side down.

I hear you about the saddle bag . That pic was taken before the maiden ride 3 months ago,the saddle bag has been removed right away as it did not get along well with the Command Post.
Yeah I'm stuck with the Brain,I can't see myself flipping propedal levers like I used to do before switching to Specialized.

I haven't been on a bike in a long, long time but I am finally getting my 1993 Rockhopper Sport going again. I never rode it much to begin with so it was in great shape. Just needed some new tires and a good cleaning.

    Smile 2013 Stumpy Evo

Well here she is as of yesterday morning when I picked up the box from FedEx.
A dedicated thread to show off your Specialized bike-evo1.jpg

I was able to get everything put together and take her for a test ride. The trail ended up being pretty muddy, so I moved off of it and did a little gravel grinder. I got this with the intent of taking part in some adventure races and the Dirty Kanza. I have to say I was very happy with the ride.
