How do you all clean your full-susp frames (mine is a stumpy) without getting water into the joints/bearings on the frame. I went to go clean my bike up lastnight, and I realized that if I took a sponge to it, I may get water into the pivot points. If so, what kind of grease do I use to replace what I've washed off? I don't plan on using a hose at all, just a bucket of water (maybe some dish soap?) What does everyone suggest?
The bearings are sealed, the pressure from a hose should not be able to breach that seal. The high pressure wand at a car wash will though.
Still, don't poke the hose into any bearing area. Just wash the bike with a wash mitt and rinse lightly. Shake as much water as you can off the bike. Remove the seat post, flip the bike up sidedown and let it dry. I worry more about water in the frame thru its various holes then bearing.
