Buying advice: 2011 Stumpjumper FSR Comp $1500

Hey guys! I need some fast advice as I'm about to change my life with a decent FS bike! Ive been waiting patiently for the right time to buy. I'm excited but I'd love some advice since I'm picking this up off of Craigslist.

Is this a fair deal? 1500 for this? Anything I should test for when buying a used bike?

    2011 FULL SUSPENSION STUMPJUMPER

    Really appreciate any wisdom

I have one I bought new at LBS for $1800 OTD last October. Great bike, but I bet you can talk him down, or get an 2012 for not too much more $$$.

Im also thinking about adding a SJ to my collection. I learned this week that the Epic does not like to jump far. It packed and shot me straight up like I was seat bouncing a MX bike. So for those sections, I think a SJ will be perfect

I bought a new 2011 SJ FSR 29er Comp with X9 shifters and command post added back in April for $1800 from a LBS. I'd say work with a LBS to find you a new old stock one. Mine supposedly came from the Specialized warehouse as they had to order it (I needed XXL).

    Not worth it.

You can buy a new 2011 Stumpy Comp for $1700. Warranty too unlike used. (Only XL size)

Or a 2012 Stumpy Comp for $2100. Warranty too. (lots of sizes)

IMO, 2012s have so many extra features, I would pay extra for it.

Here is a LBS in SF Bay Area that's blowing out their Spec inventory. I bought my '10 Stumpy FSR from them. I called to see if they had any Carbon Epic or Carbon Stumpy HT and learned they will no longer be a Spec dealer. So maybe you can talk them down some more with cash!

You're in SoCal. I have friends who would drive from NorCal down to SoCal for car parts so driving up for a bike isn't ridiculous.

    I paid $1350 for a 2011 Stumpy Elite.
