    Broken nut on 2008 Stumpy..help!!!-imageuploadedbytapatalk1347121299.872152.jpg
As you can see, this isn't good. The issue I'm having is finding this nut. Can't find it in a hardware store. Guess I have to get one from Specialized? Any clue? The bike shops don't seem to helpful, and I'm leaving on a MTB trip in two weeks! Help! 2008 stumpjumper expert.

If you can get the sizing, you might find it on eBay. Or, you can ask your local spec dealer to get it

Any high quality nut that is the right size and thread will work for your trip. You can use it with an appropriate washer if you like. This will allow you to ride the bike until you can get a replacement from Specialized. You won't hurt anything using the bike with this temporary fix.

Can't find the right thread anywhere. Been to Ace, Lowes and the HD. I'm reaching out to the local Specialized dealer here in hopes of ordering it Monday...

Replace the entire bolt and nut with something from Ace till you get the OEM set. The threads on the bolt are not a common size. Good Luck

    Proprietary nuts and bolts Figures.

PB Matrix has a great suggestion. Better order two of those assemblies. Having a spare might be wise.

    Also might try

Florida Nut & Bolt Company, stocking distributor and leading supplier of threaded fasteners and related industrial supplies since 1953.

Today might be your lucky day. Those damn nuts and bolts were made to save weight. I actually ruined the bolt on my 08 stumpy just from tightening it. Can't just buy the bolt, had to buy the whole hardware kit for the bike.

So I got an extra shock nut, PM me if you still need it.

Ace Hardware has everything I usually need, but this was one thing not even they could help out with.

Wow. That was very cool. Gotta love the internets and mtbr.com.
