    Which is the better deal?

So I was at my lbs and I have quite a dilemma. He currently has in stock a 07 enduro sl expert at 3000. He also says that he can make me a 2005 enduro sworks frame plus 2006 spec components (fox dhx rear shock, fox fork) for 3500. I know that the sworks will have 1 inch less travel front and rear. Which is the better deal for aggressive riding through rock gardens and maxiumum 4-5 foot drops?

The '05 S-Works Enduro still has 6" of travel, so it should not have 1" less travel than the '07 Enduro SL. I personally think the new Enduro SL's are dumb (not just looks or the proprietary suspension, but what is the point of a super lightweight AM bike). For 4-5 foot drops and very aggressive riding, the '05 is probably better, but I think he could do better on the price.

Tough call... If possible, can you demo either? Even post on your local page of mtbr. See if someone will 'switch' bikes with you for a day!

Wow - tough to really say since you're comparing apples to oranges. The 07 SL is a very different bike than the previous year Enduros.

Still, you're looking at a 2 year old frame.... I'd say you ought to get a better price on the 05 frame/set up if you go that route.
