    2014 Stumpjumper FSR Possibilities
    For 2013 the Camber and Enduro saw significant changes while the Stumpjumper and Epic were only slightly modified. This may suggest that the 2014 Stumpjumpers are due for a more complete redesign.

    Is there anything specific you would like to see on next year's stumpys?

    I'm wondering if they may shorten the wheelbase, this seems to be an industry trend with other 29ers being shorter (Giant/Niner for example)

    650b would be cool, seems like specialized takes every opportunity to bash 650b though. Perhaps just a sales tactic to move 29ers.

    The S-Works is full carbon and the Expert has carbon seat stays. Only the Comp carbon has an alloy rear. The SJ was redesigned for the 2012 models. It might be a bit much to expect major changes that soon.

    They've been on an "every third year" redesign pattern for a while now though. 08-09, 10-11 and its already been 12-13 on the current generation, so we could see a new SJ in 2014. I'd say 2015 at the latest.

    I'd say expect to see 650b in the next design. S-WORKS 650b, EVO 650b, etc. 34 forks being found on most models. 1x11 drivetrains if SRAM brings it down to the X0 and X9 groups.

    34's should be a must on all of the trail/AM bikes. I'd like to see a semi-customization program if you pre-order before a certain date. A few color options, maybe a choice of drivetrains (sram or shimano, or x0 vs x7 or xtr vs lx, maybe even a RS vs Fox fork. Carbon rim option. These changes are all off the shelf parts and it would be a pre order deal so you would order the bike and wait 3 or 4 months for them to be built. The only issue with this is the color schemes possibly being the toughest thing to offer.

    Only thing that stops me from buying EVO is lack of 650b, and going for 650b front only is not enough. I like short CS, low BB and slack HT. I wish they made a chip like Trek has for changing a geometry +/- 1 degree

    Yeaaa, but I would like to have it changed in seconds, not minutes, depending on terrain conditions. Whats more, it's ~150$ headset

    An all mountain hardtail stumpy would be nice. The stumpy evo ht now doesn't cut it.

    And last but not least, ditch Avid brakes, for Shimano or Hope.

    A 650b Stumpy FSR or 650b Enduro with 150mm at both ends.

    Forks:

    34mm without a 20mm TA isn't worth the change.

    36mm with a 20mm might be overkill.

    Rock shocks is on track with the 35mm and a 20mm TA. Now they need to make it in a 29er and 650b.

    34 forks would be a welcomed addition. I also like the idea of "lower end" 1x11 set-ups. I imagine both of these have a fairly high probability of happening.

    The idea of semi-custom options is one that I would probably utilize if it were to become a reality, but I don't think a company as big as spec would offer such an option. Seems to me like that is easier for a small company to pull off with a more flexible production facilities.

    I don't think I could pass on a 650b stumpy should they market one. Although I've heard that the first 29ers were pretty awful, do you guys think there would be a similar learning curve with 650b? Or is it possible that 650b could be an exception because the geometry wouldn't have to be much different than a 26" frame?

    Ugh I don't want to wait!

    I don't see them going 650b anytime soon,they're too committed to 29ers,I guess the big thing for 2014 will be the Enduro 29er and maybe an all new Tarmac. Stumpy FSR will get a major restyle for 2015 maybe.

    Bring back the XL frame for the 26er stumpy fsr. 2012 was the last year of the XL frame for the 26er fsr. Specialized shouldn't force tall riders to drink the 29er koolaid.

    I think the ones that know aren't allowed to divulge such information on a public forum. Specialized is usually pretty tight lipped about their r&d process. If you are in the right place at the right time you might see something that they're developing but you probably wouldn't know what you're looking at.

    I do not know what they are gonna change but was at a Specialized demo day today and they did say release time would be around July 12th. So we do not have to much longer to wait.

    I honestly can't believe that video is a 2014. Looks like a very nice (2012?) bike someone put a few upgraded parts on, but I don't think Spec will be putting a 36 on these for 2014. Hell, they don't even put 36 on the enduro. I call BS.

    Looks like they only have the Evo available for the 26" stumpy, no shorter travel comps. Hopefully they bring back the XL for 26".

    The only way to get a SJ with Kashima coated fork is to get an s-works. No way a comp model would have one.

    Fox has been putting Kashima coating on mid priced forks for a couple of years now. There is no reason for Specialized not to have them on at least Expert models and should really be on Elite.

    I'm not saying the video is legit, just that if Spec only puts Kashima forks on their s-works bikes for 2014 they are going to be behind the competition.

    I bet the 2014s are setting in the specialized warehouse in boxes waiting to be shipped. Just get it over with specialized and give us the details.

    Yea there is, more profit. Sorry I loved the older Specialized bikes I've had in the past, but IMHO they've priced themselves too high for what you get.

    It's just like having to go to SWorks to get full carbon frames, other manufactures have full carbon on 4k bikes, you don't need to spend 10k.

    Nope. The details of the bikes will be released when they do the sales rep training in (usually) July. Lots of info then.

    Tell it brother! Actually a significant reason I didn't go with a Spesh, despite a nice team discount. I just hate the way they cut every corner to maximize profits. No Kashima, aluminum rear ends, cheap-ass brakes, front derailleurs and cassettes snuck into builds. All for prices where competitors offer full-carbon and complete component groups. You'd think that with their larger production volume they'd be able to undercut boutique brands with the same quality...

    I've been trying to gather as much 'hearsay' as I can to help make my decision on purchasing a new 2014.
    Specialized fsr comp 29er rumors thus far.

    1.Possibly having shorter chain stays.
    2. Rockshock pike might be the front shock.
    3. Dropper seat post
    4. Price increase to $3,300 with new bells and whistles.
    5. Bike color- more matte and bright colors.
