    2014 Specialized S-Works Epic Arrivals?

Has anyone received their 2014 Specialized S-Works Epic Bike or Frame?

If not, what has your LBS told you as the expected delivery date?

I've had an S-Works Epic frame on order for a while now and earlier today called the shop for an update. They said delivery is still listed as November or January.

I ordered one a week ago. They just told me a couple of days ago that they checked and it would be last week of November to first week of December.

I ordered a WC a couple months ago. Originally I was told October. I called Specialized a few weeks ago and I was told mid-November. Called again today and now I was told mid-December. Needless to say, a 2 month delay from what I was originally told is really pissing me off. By the time my bike gets here, I will be under 3 feet of snow, and won't be able to ride until April! *&#%#!!!!

Here in NC my shop said they don't expect the Large S-Works Epic frame to arrive until Dec. They got one complete black WC Expert, Medium size, in earlier this month and it's still looking for a home.

    Hi,

what have you ordered? A complete bike or a frameset? WC or normal S-Works?
It would be great if you can weigh the new S-Works seatpost.

Picked up my 2014 size large S-WORKS Epic frame set in race red / silver decals this afternoon. Frame with seat collar weighed in at 4.95 lbs. Misc parts arriving this week and hope to have it built up by the weekend. I feel faster already after just looking at it leaning up against the chair in the den.

BTW, the dealer told me there was an S-WORKS Epic frame shortage right now and that this unit was one of the very few in the country. He was surprised it arrived today.

I ordered the Red S-Works frame in Large last Sat. There was one available in Utah and a couple of the carbon/black frames. I should see the frame in a couple more days. I'll post a pic and weight once we get it unboxed.

No, it appears to be heavier than the 2013. A medium 2013 frame came in at 2230grams or 4.91lbs. It may be that this 2014 is a size small though. The 2014 complete bikes will come in lighter though due to lighter wheels plus a few other savings in the cranks and seatpost, although the stock 2014 post is heavy for a 27.2

My 2010 S-works epic 29er was 5.35 lbs or 2430g with the seat collar. The new frame is about 170g lighter.

    It's here…

Just a quick peak. The frame looks better than I thought it would. The red is very bright and the silver and black on the frame looks great. Specialized never seems to showcase their bikes and frames on their website very well. I also like how the brain hose mounts and is routed from shock to brain. Very impressed with what I see so far.

I'll start building it in a couple weeks.

I'm taking parts off another bike I have so it won't be a top of the line build right now…

    Control carbon wheels
1x10 with XO rear Derailer and XO grip shift,
S-Works Crank, NW Race Face chain ring
    S-Works bar and stem
    XTR brakes

Marcus- The fork and seat post are in separate boxes and I didn't open them. I'll only pulled enough bubble wrap off the frame to check it out for a few minutes before putting it back in the box. Before I start building it I'll take more pictures and grab some weights for you guys.

It's a medium.. and the saddle is a WTB Rocket- I've tried tons of different saddles from cheap to $200+ and I like this one. I'm one of the few people that don't care about how much stuff weighs.. I just ride. I have UST tires with 3 oz of Stan's in each one, two Niterider Lumina 700's on the bars and a stupid little bell (for clueless idiots on the linear trails I ride) so I'm sure it a lot heavier than everybody's else's Epic. It's pretty cloudy outside right now so I'll take some better pics soon!

Thanks! I went for an 18 mile "test ride" yesterday to make sure everything was good (it was). I really like the Epic- I bought a 2013 Comp Carbon in July and ended up stripping it down and replacing all of the components with what is now on the S-Works. The next project is to sell the Comp Carbon frame and Reba fork on Ebay.

For those who have received their frames, do front and rear skewers ship with the frame? If so, what type of skewer?

    Thanks.

The frameset comes with the 15mm thru-axle on the fork and an X-12 type (non QR) on the rear.

By the time my bike gets here, I will be under 3 feet of snow, and won't be able to ride until April! *&#%#!!!!
I've had an XL S-Works WC on order for months now too. You've been hearing the exact same thing as I have. I haven't heard them slip November yet though... I better call and check with them again. I've never understood why they can't pin down the dates at all. Months of variance each time I buy a bike.

    Nice bike!
It would be great if someone would weigh the new s-works cranks and the seat collar.

No dice for me. My shop hasn't received any yet. Specialized didn't even know that a few have been delivered. They said they show a few coming in this month, and a few in December. Don't know where I am in the pre-order cue, so my shop might not get mine for a while still....

My full WC is finally in and almost built! They sent me a black one instead of white...Whatever, I'll live! :-) Replaced the seat with a Carbon Phenom. Pedals are eggbeater 11. I did change the tires to the heavier FastTrak Controls in lieu of the S-Works. My first big ride is going to be a 50+ miler with lots of rocks and the s-works tires don't hold up too well on that ride.

I'll weigh it built and post pics. I'll weigh it again with the lighter tires after the big ride.

Frame Came Early & It's Already Built

Just picked it up today. Haven't even ridden it yet. I'll be going out tomorrow at least for a little spin no matter how bad the weather is.

Those of you who received SW WC bikes and frames, when did you order? I ordered around the end of August, with no delivery in sight....

    2014 Specialized S-Works Epic Arrivals?

If any of the internal cable routing holes on the 2014 frame are left unused does the frame come with additional rubber covers to plug them and stop water getting inside through the holes?

    @bsqr and clivus,
Are those the standard Epic frames (not World Cup)?

Mine is a standard S-Works Epic.

Build is similar to Clivus' - major differences being XX1 & Roval Control SL 29 wheelset. 22 lb 8 oz with pedals.

My frame came with an assortment of adapters to plug the frame holes if they are not used. My build is 1x10 and I have the drive side top tube hole capped.

Jealous of everyone who's received their frames! I keep grabbing the '14 expert carbon test bike from the shop to tide me over until I can get my hands on my frame

    2014 S-Works Epic WC (Black)

Picked up my 2014 S-Works Epic WC (Black Medium) today from my LBS. They weighed it with tubes at 20.7 pounds.

Yes, without pedals. Once I convert to tubeless and install pedals I should be slightly over 20 pounds still. Oh well!

Man specialized is consistent, mine with tubes like yours weight 20.8 at the shop. I looked up 29er tubes and it seems they weight on average 220 grams times 2 is almost a pound. I will be putting xtr petals on my ride so should be a little over 20 as well once converted to tubeless.

Don't forget to account for the weight of the tubeless valve stem (minimal, 7 g each) but 2-3 oz of sealant (60-90g) per tire, so 134-194g . Added to the 310 g of the pedals, you will be back to the same weight tubeless with pedals that you are at currently with tubes without pedals. So looks like 20.7-20.9 lbs true ready-to-ride weight out of the box once converted to tubeless with standard ~300g XC pedals. The beauty is how little of that weight is rotational weight with those fantastic ultra-light wheels..

My brother stopped by a bike shop in town to demo a saddle, and they had a S-Work Epic WC in a large, but in black. I have a white on order with a different shop. Specialized originally told me that the white bikes were coming a month before the black. Obviously they were wrong. Specialized told me yesterday that only a few were trickling in before January. Fingers still crossed....

My S-Works frame arrived at the shop today:

Unfortunately...it's not of the MTB variety......I'm thinking i'll be waiting until the new year for the Epic to show, but I have my fingers crossed for a Christmas surprise. I'll get to building this up in the mean time

My Epic S-Works WC Frameset arrived at the shop yesterday (Large Black). Was supposed to be here late December. No I do not have a weight on it. Now if all the parts I picked were not BO, I could get the bike built and go enjoy it
