    2014 S Works MTB crank?

Does anybody know if they changed the Q factor on this and got it more
    inline with SRAMS 156Q?

What do you want to do??!! some guy said me that specialized use 165 q factor in their cranks!!

That's why I bought a XX1 crankset with 168q factor really works and fits perfect in my sworks stumpjumper 2013 it will work on epics too

They can't change the q factor I think is the same in 2014

    You "think" it's the same?

Does anyone know the 100% for sure answer to this? I have 2 sets of xx1 cranks in a 156 (sorry i have hamster hips) and I'd like to throw these on the 2014 S works WC frameset I just ordered. Guys at my shop say you can, but it will rub some. Others say , No it must be a 168 Q factor. So which is it?

it cleared....post your findings when you get your frame.

    Hey peabody,
The 2014 Epic is still designed around a 165mm q factor. The 156 cranks won't fit, sorry.
Hope you enjoy your new frameset though!

i have a 2014 S Works World Cup Large, i'm running it with XX1 Q 156 Cranks and Absolute Black 28T chain ring. I wish i would have held off buying the 168 until i checked this (all due to this inaccurate post!). I don't know if the 156 fits a 2014 S Works Epic non-WC version, as maybe the chain stay on the WC is narrower. It just squeaks by the non drive side chain stay by a few mm. I like it as it feels more like my road bike setup (Super Record 11 cranks)

Yes, those are Q 156 Cranks...

Here's a pic. It comes very close to the right side chainstay but it clears.

Chain stays are now 16mm narrower on the latest Specialized Epic to provide better heel clearance."

I think you have a 156Q special there. Due to the very stiff chain stays you are likely to have few problems with crank arm clearance. Those without a WC won't be so lucky. Certainly no way they would work on my 2011 SW. Only by very careful management of spacers and the BB shells have I got my bike to the point where there is no crank arm strike with the standard SW cranks.

Hi. Any chance you can tell me what spacers you had to use to fit xx1crank to the epic. Thanks.

9.1 mm crank arm spindle spacer + wavy washer. There is no special modification. Parts came with the xx1 crank. My s-works epic wc is a large, not sure if it matters.

Here's my 156 Q crank with my new Rotor QX1 34 ring. Probably at it's widest the ring is like a 36 and this is the most that can fit on this bike.

Q ring. Interesting. Notice any benefit from it?

It's working out so much i'm going to put this on all my bikes (gravel bike, stumpy, etc) I'm a peddle masher so i reasoned pushing a bigger gear only during the part of the stroke where i feel i have the most power would benefit my style. On this ring there's 3 different settings. The typical setting is 3 which has the largest part of the ring at the 3 o'clock position. I started with this and didn't like it. it stressed my calves. Knowing that i put most of the pressure at around the 1-2 o'clock position i moved the setting to the 2 position which really works well with my torque curve, it makes my peddling a lot smother, and i feel faster. Mostly because my leg is a lot more relaxed when it's off the power phase. Having a fresher leg let's me mash even harder and that's when i can go faster. I originally used a 32 XX1 ring. However, i'm now able to use a 34 Q ring but i don't feel like i'm missing a lower gear.

Brilliant, thanks for the details answer. I'm also a masher on a 32ring so may well give this a shot. Cheers.
