2013 S-Works Epic SRAM - can you put on a ft der?
Considering purchasing a 2013 S-Works Epic Sram, but I wanted to know if you can put a ft der on that frame. I have not yet ridden a 1x11 since my stolen S-Works was an '09. I loved that bike... Anyway, I may just get the '14 with XTR, can't go wrong I assume, as insurance will cover it, but curious about the Sram. Thanks.
Hard to know what you are asking for. Can you mount a front derailleur to an 2013 SW SRAM (1x11 model)? Yes, you need a bottom pull Direct Mount Spec 3 SRAM front derailleur. And you require the Specialized adapter for the derailleur that mounts it to the chainstay.
You will also need the XX or SW crank, and the 10-speed chain & cassette. Probably better to just ride 1x11 on your usual terrain as see how you find it.
I would probably be there on my own SW except that the cost of change, allied with the amount of spare 10-speed cassettes, chains and rings makes the change very expensive.
