    2005 rockhopper question

i'm thinking about buying an 05 rockhopper. as far as i know its the base model and it doesnt have disc brakes. The lady wants $400 for it. Is this a good price or will i be getting ripped off? she says it looks brand new and has only been ridden a few times. I thought i'd ask around so i don't get ripped off.

I can't remember what they sold for new, but I have a 2005 Rockhopper Comp which is one model up from the regular rockhopper and I paid $700 for it new at my lbs. If it really is like new I would pay $350 for it or maybe $375 as they are a decent bike. I haven't had any issues with mine other than a broken spoke on one wheel. It's comfortable to ride for longer rides too.

A 2007 Rockhopper (Base model) is $520 new - if you can find one.
If you found an '07 you should be able to negotiate a 10 - 15% discount.

$400 for an '05 is too much (IMHO).
