    2004 epic comp frame

I hIave the opportunity to buy a lightly used frame for $400. They arent popular around here and cant ask anyone I know about it . Was this a good frame and shock? Any problems etc. Do earlier brain shocks work as advertized? Thanks Harry

I think that shock doesn't have the adjust feature allowing you to set the shock at race/firm or trail/soft. It isn't that great of a feature. I have it and just found a setting I like and leave it there.

The earlier brain shock were accused of being a little to "on or off", but I haven't noticed that with mine. Are you coming from a hardtail or a full-suspension bike? That may play into your perception. I came from a hardtail.

But the 2004 frames were a nice set up from the 2003's (1/2 lb lighter) and the brain suspension works well. The latest generation of epics have a bit more refined suspension, but the older ones work great regardless.
