09 Stumpy fsr elite vs. 2010 stumpy fsr elite

HI, I'm deciding over which year to buy. I found the 2009 specialized stumpjumper fsr elite used for $1250 and I got a deal with at the LBS, I got a deal for $2,000 for the 2010 stumpjumper fsr elite. Which one is a better deal?

    Thanks for the help.

They both have basically the same component spec....

The only major difference is the travel, the 09 has 120mm and the 10 has 140mm.

Is the 10 a new bike or used?

The frame warranty only applies to the original owner. I would keep that in mind if buying a used bike.

I had an 09 SJ and demo'd a 2010 back to back. I think the new shock linkage design is an improvement. The bike pedals more firmly on hard efforts while still being just as active on smaller chatter. Decided to pick up a year end deal on a 2010 SJ 29er myself.

That's a pretty big price difference, but if you can swing the 2010, then go for it.

I'm curious did you buy the 2009? I think I was looking at the same bike and was emailing the seller here in the East Bay. He said I could see it but then he stopped replying............................

similar components but different frame design, more travel (140 to 120) and specially a different rear linkage more efficent. last the brain setting is also better.

My brother has on 09 and its a great bike. The only major difference is the frame design and 20mm more of travel in the rear. The 2009 elite came with a 140mm fork.

Last year my brother bought it for 2200, so your getting a good deal.

To be honest there isn't 800 dollars worth of better components in the 2010, your just paying for new frame design, and 20mm more rear travel.
