    08 stumpy ht comp

    2008 stumpjumper ht comp , are these good enough for expert level racing ? m5 alum frame decent parts spec , or should i look into the carbon expert , with is alot more money ?

    It's the motor not the bike

    You could definately race the bike and eventually upgrade the components. (especially to a lighter wheelset) I would test ride the HT comp 29er also. 29er hardtails are becoming the standard for a lot of XC racers.

    the stumpjumper hardtail comp weighs under 25 pounds so its already light in stock form, there are many things you can do to make it super light but even as it is you could race it no problem

    sounds good . the carbon model is a huge jump in price . i am going to go with the alum comp. good deal at 1750 msrp vs 2900 for the carbon . and your right it is the rider not the bike !!!
