06 Stump FSR stem sugestions
First of all anyone know the stem length on a 06 Stumpy FSR. The specs say:
3D forged CNC machined, 4-bolt, 8 degree rise
I'm just not sure how to measure the stem.
I think it's around 110. I been reading up on the stem length and think it would be beneficial to go to a 90 mm one for my style of riding.
Any thoughts or suggestions on length or what brand to go with?
The stem sizes were dependent upon the frame size.
Depends on your preferred position.
I like Thomson stems.

You measure your stem from centre to centre: So while it's on the bike measure from the starnut to where the clamp join is at the handlebar. I imagine the length would be around 100 or 110mm like you have said.
What to get? Well whatever takes your fancy really & fits with your budget. I've got a 90mm Thomson X4 which is pretty nice, it's the minimum lenght I could run without getting sore hands from a cramped position. If you do alot of xc / trail type of riding with some fun thrown in then 90mm sounds like a pretty good choice. (Thomson seatposts are considered the best) but plenty of good stem choices out there: Race Face, Truvativ, Easton, Sette, there's heaps.
In my opinion 7075 Aluminium offers good strength to weight ratio depending on the manufacturing process, so depends how much of a weight weenie you are, what you can afford & what looks nice to you.
