    06 rockhopper sport info

According to the LBS's catalog, the 06 rockhopper sport (base model) comes with SRAM X4 shifters and X5 rear deraileur.

However (according to my LBS) it seems that specialized is upgrading all of their 06 rockhoppers to X7 gear, and will be retrofitting the X4's in the bikes that have already made it to the stores. So if you are in the market for a rockhopper (06 model) and it has X4 shifters on it, you might get a free upgrade to X7 (like I did)

Congrats and thanks for the info

Wonder if they will do it on any of their bikes? I have an older Enduro and the drive train is wore out. I could use the X7 just to get it working again.

i think the other 06 base model color is red. concerning the fork, I am 6'4" 275lbs, so my review of the fork may not be the same as someone smaller than me, but I can't complain about it yet. The lockout is definitely a plus as i will be doing some biking on the road as well. i have no idea what it weighs.

I'm pretty sure this only applies to 06 models that have the X4 shifters on them.

    Upgrade the X-7

Anyone else heard about the upgrade to X-7s? I am getting ready to order a Rockhopper, and it would be great to get the x7s insted of the 4s and 5s. Is there a # I can call to find out if this a definate free upgrade?

Just got my Black 06 Rockhopper and it has the X-7 Shifters. It also has the XS-5 rear derailleur. Were you saying that the rear deraileur should also be X-7?
