is it an 05 or an 06?

Well I brought home my first mountain bike today. Its a 06 Hardrock comp disk.

My only concern is the pics and specs on the Specialized site are identical to my new supposed 06.

Is there anyway to tell if I truly have an 06 without waiting for the website to update?

    Thanks
    Jeff

Just a guess but your bike should have a serial number on it somewhere (bottom side of frame between cranks?) that you could probably contact Specialized directly with and inquire as to the model year. But that's just a guess. Worth a shot though.

The colors of the Hardrock have changed every year. If your bike is the same color as the 05 Hardrock comp, then I think you got a 2005. If not I bet the 2006 is specked the same as the 2005.

We already have nearly every single o6 Specialized bike in our shop. I believe that every single o6 Hardrock model is SRAM equipped. The low end stuff. The o5 Hardrocks had low end Shimano.

From your description it looks like I got screwed. Any idea where I can get ahold of a 06 catalog?

I have attached a few pics of the bike.

    Thanks for the help

The 2oo6 Hardrocks cost the same as the 2oo5 models. We decided to give people an early bird special I guess? As for exact prices, I'm not 100% certain, I haven't been working the sales floor much lately.

To be honest, I like the o5 Hardrocks better as far as component selection goes. The frame changed slightly for o6. The o6 frame looks more like the o5 Rockhopper frame. But the components really suck. PLASTIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Thanks

Its not really the year that bothers me but the price. I was quoted 550 a few weeks ago for an 05 but I was told the 06's were up $50. Which is ok I guess but only if its truly an 06 and not just upcharged on an 05.

Thanks again for the replies. Im going to try and roll by another shop tomorrow and see if they have any 06's.

    Thanks
    Jeff

I went to another bike shop today. They had the exact same bike as mine and it was marked as 06.

So either the So Cal bike shops are together in one big conspiracy or its an 06. I will have to hold on until Specialized updates their site.

    Thanks for all the replies.

That's definitely the o5 model, I just checked our floor today. Specialized does a pretty sweet paint scheme for the o6 Hardrocks.
As for the Stumpjumpers? Our shipment was delayed, they're coming tomorrow or Tuesday. 140 Specialized bikes, all o6. Hell yea. I'm going on vacation though, so I guess I won't be seeing them.

Any idea how much that new Big Hit is going to cost?

I'm wondering how long I have to wait until I can actually *gasp* buy one.

    You guys were right.

I called Specialized today and the guy faxed me spec sheet for the 06 Hardrock Comp Disk. Its definitely different than the bike I have.

I called the owner of the shop and seems to think his girl tagged the bikes wrong. Im heading over tomorrow to pick up a check.

I feel sorry for all the other suckers like myself who will never know.

    Thanks again
    Jeff

OK, did a search like a good forum member should and came up with this thread. My buddy is looking to get a bashguard for his son's Hardrock. I'm trying to help him out on getting the correct one. It's identical to the one pictured here. I can obviously see that it's a 4 bolt w/ standard 104mm spacing, but does anyone know how many teeth on the #2 ring?

Damn, was gonna post a reply but your avatar took over my train of thought!

Accidentally marked the wrong year, what a pile of crap that answer is.
